Franz Serafin Exner (philosopher)
Franz Serafin Exner Jnr (; 24 March 1849 – 15 October 1926) was an Austrian physicist and professor at the University of Vienna. He is known for pioneering physical chemistry education in Austria. The early introduction to university curricula of subjects such as radioactivity, spectroscopy, electrochemistry electricity in the atmosphere, and color theory in Austria are often credited to him. He advised many notable students including Stefan Meyer, Erwin Schrödinger, and Marian Smoluchowski. Ludwig Eduard Boltzmann ( ; ; 20 February 1844 – 5 September 1906) was an Austrian mathematician and Theoretical physics, theoretical physicist. His greatest achievements were the development of statistical mechanics and the statistical explanation of the second law of thermodynamics. Johann Josef Loschmidt
Johann Josef Loschmidt (15 March 1821 – 8 July 1895), better known as Josef Loschmidt, was an Austrian scientist who performed ground-breaking work in chemistry, physics (thermodynamics, optics, electrodynamics), and crystal forms. Born in Karlsbad, a town in the Austrian Empire (now Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic), Loschmidt became professor of physical chemistry at the University of Vienna in 1868. He had two early mentors. The first was Bohemian priest Adalbert Czech, who persuaded Loschmidt's parents to send young Josef to high school in the Piarist monastery in Schlackenwerth and, in 1837, to advanced high-school classes in Prague. This was followed by two years of philosophy and mathematics at Prague's Charles University, where Loschmidt met his second important mentor. The Austrian Academy of Sciences (; ÖAW) is a legal entity under the special protection of the Republic of Austria. Sigmund Exner (also ''Sigmund Exner'', ''Siegmund Exner-Ewarten'', ''Siegmund Exner Ritter von Ewarten''; 5 April 1846 – 5 February 1926) was an Austrian physiologist born in Vienna.
