Franz Schiemer
Franz "Franky" Schiemer (born 21 March 1986, in Haag am Hausruck, Upper Austria) is a former Austrian footballer who played as a defender and was most recently assistant head coach of Leeds United. Career Club career He started his career in his hometown Taufkirchen an der Pram as striker. Schiemer came through the youth ranks at SV Ried to make his professional debut in the 2003/2004 season at just 17 years of age. The same year he was 3rd in the U17-European Championship. In 2005, he joined Austria Wien. On 9 April 2009 FC Red Bull Salzburg has for the season 2009/2010 Schiemer from league rivals FK Austria Wien required, the 23-year-old Austria national team player signed with the Red Bulls a contract until 30 June 2012. FC Red Bull Salzburg is an Austrian professional football club based in Wals-Siezenheim, that competes in the Austrian Bundesliga, the top flight of Austrian Football. Their home ground is the Red Bull Arena. Due to sponsorship restrictions, the club is known as FC Salzburg and wears a modified crest when playing in UEFA competitions. The club was known as SV Austria Salzburg, and had several sponsored names, before being bought by Red Bull GmbH in 2005 who renamed the club and changed its colours from its traditional violet and white to red and white. The change resulted in some of the team's fans forming a new club, SV Austria Salzburg. The 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA Euro 2008 or simply Euro 2008, was the 13th UEFA European Championship, a quadrennial football tournament contested by the member nations of UEFA (the Union of European Football Associations). It took place in Austria and Switzerland (both hosting the tournament for the first time) from 7 to 29 June 2008. The tournament was won by Spain, who defeated Germany 1–0 in the final. Spain were only the second nation to win all their group stage fixtures and then the European Championship itself, matching France's achievement from 1984. The Austrian Cup (german: ÖFB-Cup), known as UNIQA ÖFB Cup for sponsorship purposes, is an annual football competition held by the Austrian Football Association, the ÖFB. During the 2008–09 season, Austria Wien won the tournament for 27th time, a record. Red Bull Salzburg are the current holders, winning the 2021-2022 tournament, making it their 8th successive win in the tournament and their 9th overall. The qualifying competition for UEFA Euro 2012 was a series of parallel association football competitions held over 2010 and 2011 to decide the qualifiers for UEFA Euro 2012, held in Poland and Ukraine.
