Frankel Conjecture
In the mathematical fields of differential geometry and algebraic geometry, the Frankel conjecture was a problem posed by Theodore Frankel in 1961. It was resolved in 1979 by Shigefumi Mori, and by Yum-Tong Siu and Shing-Tung Yau. In its differential-geometric formulation, as proved by both Mori and by Siu and Yau, the result states that if a closed Kähler manifold has positive bisectional curvature, then it must be biholomorphic to complex projective space. In this way, it can be viewed as an analogue of the sphere theorem in Riemannian geometry, which (in a weak form) states that if a closed and simply-connected Riemannian manifold has positive curvature operator, then it must be diffeomorphic to a sphere. Robin Hartshorne
__NOTOC__ Robin Cope Hartshorne ( ; born March 15, 1938) is an American mathematician who is known for his work in algebraic geometry. Career Hartshorne was a Putnam Fellow in Fall 1958 while he was an undergraduate at Harvard University (under the name Robert C. Hartshorne). He received a Ph.D. in mathematics from Princeton University in 1963 after completing a doctoral dissertation titled ''Connectedness of the Hilbert scheme'' under the supervision of John Coleman Moore and Oscar Zariski. He then became a Junior Fellow at Harvard University, where he taught for several years. In mathematics, a distinctive feature of algebraic geometry is that some line bundles on a projective variety can be considered "positive", while others are "negative" (or a mixture of the two). The most important notion of positivity is that of an ample line bundle, although there are several related classes of line bundles. In mathematics, a Hermitian symmetric space is a Hermitian manifold which at every point has an inversion symmetry preserving the Hermitian structure. Ngaiming Mok
Ngaiming Mok (; born 1956) is a Hong Kong mathematician specializing in complex differential geometry and algebraic geometry. He is currently a professor at the University of Hong Kong. After graduating from St. Paul's Co-educational College in Hong Kong in 1975, Mok studied at the University of Chicago and Yale University, obtaining his M.A. in Mathematics from Yale in 1978. He obtained his Ph.D. from Stanford University under the guidance of Yum-Tong Siu. He taught at Princeton University, Columbia University and the University of Paris-Saclay before joining the faculty of the University of Hong Kong in 1994. He has been the director of the University of Hong Kong's Institute of Mathematical Research since 1999.
