Frank W. Simpson
Frank William Simpson (1871 – December 8, 1929) was an American college football player and coach. He served as the head football coach at the University of Oregon from 1898 to 1899 and at the University of California, Berkeley in 1901, compiling a career coaching record of 15–3–2. From 1898 to 1899, he guided the Oregon Webfoots to a 6–3–1 record. At California in 1901, he coached the Golden Bears to a 9–0–1 record. Pacheco, California
Pacheco is a census-designated place (CDP) in Contra Costa County, California. The population was 4,183 at the 2020 census. It is bounded by Martinez to the north and west, Concord to the east, and Pleasant Hill to the south. History The town was laid out in 1857 by Dr. J. H. Carothers and named for Salvio Pacheco, grantee of the Rancho Monte del Diablo Mexican land grant. A post office operated at Pacheco from 1859 to 1913 and from 1955 to the present. Pacheco was briefly a prosperous commercial center. During this period, Pacheco Slough was deep enough to receive ocean-based shipping. The 1899 Oregon Webfoots football team represented the University of Oregon in the 1899 college football season. It was the Webfoots' sixth season and were led by head coach Frank W. Simpson in his second year. Oregon competed in 1899 as part of the Oregon Intercollegiate Football Association (OIFA) before quitting the league midseason, together with Oregon Agricultural College, over a roster-stuffing scandal allegedly perpetrated by Willamette University.
