John Franklin "Frank" Stephens (born April 9, 1982) is an American disability advocate, actor and athlete. He has Down syndrome and has often acted as a spokesman for those with the genetic disorder. He is an ambassador for Global Down Syndrome Foundation and represented the Foundation at the first US congressional hearing for Down syndrome research. Early and personal life Stephens was born April 9, 1982, to Cornelia and John. He is from Fairfax, Virginia. Advocacy Stephens has been a public spokesman for those with Down syndrome for many years. In October 2012, he wrote an open letter to Ann Coulter about her use of slurs against mentally disabled people when referring to then-US President Barack Obama. Coulter refused to apologize, and Stephens spoke publicly to Piers Morgan as a result of the publicity. Frank Garfield Stephens (26 April 1889 – 9 August 1970) was an English amateur cricketer who played first-class cricket for Warwickshire from 1907 to 1912. On his first-class debut, against Yorkshire in 1907, Stephens top-scored in the second innings with 15 not out as Warwickshire were dismissed for 47. He made his highest score, 144 not out, against Lancashire in 1912, preventing defeat after Warwickshire had trailed by 282 runs on the first innings. His twin brother, George, captained Warwickshire in 1919. Frank Stephens (1849–1937) was an American naturalist and the first director of the San Diego Natural History Museum. He was considered the pioneer naturalist of the Southwest, studying the mammals and birds of California, Arizona, and Baja California. His personal specimen collection of 2,000 birds and mammals, donated in 1910, was the foundation of the San Diego Natural History Museum's Birds & Mammals Department, now a major resource on bird and mammal species of western North America, including Baja California. George Francis Stephens (1859–1935), known as Frank Stephens, was an American sculptor, political activist and co-founder of a utopian single-tax community in Arden, Delaware. Early life, education and family Stephens was born December 28, 1859, in Rahway, New Jersey, to Henry Louis Stephens and Charlotte Ann Wevil. He briefly attended Rutgers College in New Brunswick, New Jersey, and entered the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) in 1875, where he studied under Thomas Eakins at various times between 1879 and 1885. He served as Eakins' teaching assistant beginning in 1880, and married Eakins' sister Caroline "Caddie" Eakins on June 14, 1884. They had three children, Margaret, Donald, and Roger. Frank Douglas Stephens AO, DSO (10 October 1913 - 10 December 2011) was an Australian surgeon. He was born in Melbourne on 10 October 1913. His father was Henry Douglas Stephens and his mother Eileen Cole. Educated at the University of Melbourne he specialized in surgery, particularly with regard to congenital malformations of the uro-genital tract. He served in the Australian Army during World War II in the Australian Army Medical Corps and was awarded a Distinguished Service Order in 1942. He was discharged in 1945 as a Major. After the war he moved into paediatric surgery and worked mostly at the Royal Children's Hospital in Melbourne.
