Frank Esmann
Frank Esmann (27 August 1939 - 27 November 2016) was a Danish journalist. He served as editor-in-chief of ''Weekendavisen'' from 1978 to 1984 and later worked for national Danish broadcaster DR. Biography Esmann was born in Odense and was educated as a journalist from the Danish School of Journalism. He began his career as a foreign correspondent in Eastern Europe and the United Kingdom. He returned to Denmark in 1976 and served as editor-in-chief of ''Weekendavisen ''Weekendavisen'' (meaning ''The Weekend Newspaper'' in English) is a Danish weekly broadsheet newspaper published on Fridays in Denmark. Its circulation (as of 2007) is approximately 60,000 copies, about ten per cent of which cover subscription ...'' from 1978 to 1984. He then joined DR where he served as foreign correspondent in the US and Germany from 1988 to 1998. He then served as an anchorman at the DR2 late news programme ''Deadline''. When afternoon mail delivery was discontinued, ''Berlingske Aftenavis'' (''Berlingske Evening Newspaper''), which was the evening edition of the daily newspaper '' Berlingske Tidende'', had to cease publication, and ''Weekendavisen'' came into existence as a replacement, known for the first several years as ''Weekendavisen Berlingske Aften''. DR (broadcaster)
DR (), officially the Danish Broadcasting Corporation in English, is a Danish public-service radio and television broadcasting company. Founded in 1925 as a public-service organization, it is Denmark's oldest and largest electronic media enterprise. DR is a founding member of the European Broadcasting Union. DR was originally funded by a media licence, however since 2022, the media license has been replaced by an addition to the Danish income tax. Today, DR operates three television channels, all of which are distributed free-to-air via a nationwide DVB-T2 network. DR also operates seven radio channels.
