Francisco Demetrio Sánchez Betancourt (born September 6, 1976) is a former Butterfly stroke, butterfly and Freestyle swimming, freestyle swimmer from Venezuela, who won the 50 meter freestyle at the 1995 FINA Short Course World Championships (25 meter pool) in Rio de Janeiro. Two years later, at the third edition of 1997 FINA Short Course World Championships, the event, he won the 50 meter and the 100 meter freestyle. He swam collegiately for the USA's Arizona State University in the late 1990s. At the 1998 Central American and Caribbean Games, he set a List of Central American and Caribbean Games records in swimming, Championship Record in the 100 fly (53.86). Francisco Sánchez Ruíz (born December 29, 1991) is a Spanish professional pool player, nicknamed "The Ferrari" and by his initials "FSR". He won both the 2022 WPA World Eight-ball Championship and the 2023 WPA World Nine-ball Championship. Career Ruiz won the World Nine-ball Junior Championship in 2010, defeating Jesse Engel 11–6 in the final. Killing Of Kathryn Steinle
On July 1, 2015, 32-year-old Kathryn "Kate" Steinle was shot and killed while walking with her father and a friend along Pier 14 in the Embarcadero district of San Francisco. She was hit in the back by a single bullet. The man who fired the gun, José Inez García Zárate, said he had found it moments before, wrapped in cloth beneath a bench on which he was sitting, and that when he picked it up the weapon went off. The shot ricocheted off the concrete deck of the pier and struck the victim, who was about 90 feet (27m) away. Steinle died two hours later in a hospital as a result of her injuries. On November 30, 2017, after five days of deliberations, a jury acquitted García Zárate of all murder and manslaughter charges, and federal manslaughter and assault charges were dropped due to lack of evidence.
