Francisco Martínez (basketball)
Francisco "Kiko" Martínez Cordero (June 20, 1910 – December 1, 1993) was a Mexican basketball player. He competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics. Born in Ciudad Juárez, Martínez was part of the Mexican basketball team that won the bronze medal. He played in six of the squad's matches. Following his Olympic experience, Martínez played college basketball at New Mexico A&M University (now New Mexico State University). He played at the school from 1936 to 1939, earning first team All-Border Intercollegiate Athletic Association, Border Conference in 1938 and 1939. As a senior, he led the Aggies to the 1939 National Invitation Tournament in New York City. Martínez' grandson Román Martínez (basketball), Román Martínez also represented Mexico as a part of the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship. Mexico won the gold medal, qualifying for the 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain. References External links

Francisco Martínez de Baeza was the colonial governor of New Mexico from November 1634 to 18 April 1637. He was heavily criticized for rejecting the participation of Franciscan missions in the territory, for impeding the conversion of indigenous people to Christianity, and for exploiting the labor of these people. Biography Although the time and place of his birth are unknown, it is believed that he was born in Seville, Spain. He was appointed governor of Spain's New Mexico colony and installed in that office in late November 1634, succeeding Francisco de la Mora y Ceballos. He used the settlers and, especially, the native population as labor, making this activity his main function. Once in power, he organized a series of commercial companies, paying little attention to his duties as governor in the province, such as that of maintaining peace between settlers and Native Americans. Francisco Xavier Martínez Marina (10 May 1754–25 July 1833) was a noted Spanish jurist, historian and priest. Born in Oviedo, capital city of the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain, he was director of the Real Academia de la Historia, an institution dedicated to the study of Spain's political, civilian, ecclesiastical and military history. He also was a member of the Real Academia Española, the institution responsible for regulating the Spanish language. Francisco Martínez Soria (December 18, 1902 – February 26, 1982) better known as Paco Martínez Soria was a Spanish actor. He was born in Tarazona, Province of Zaragoza, Zaragoza, Aragon. Biography Although he was born in Tarazona, he was only five when his family moved to Barcelona, where he went to school. He worked as a clerk and then as a salesperson. Francisco de Paula Martínez de la Rosa y Cornejo (March 10, 1787 – February 7, 1862) was a Spanish statesman and dramatist and the first prime minister of Spain to receive the title of ''President of the Council of Ministers''. He became Prime Minister in the opening months of the First Carlist War and his liberal government oversaw the promulgation of a new Spanish constitution: the Spanish Royal Statute of 1834. Francisco Daniel Martínez (born 4 April 1986) is an Argentine football manager and former professional footballer who played as a defender. He is currently the reserve manager at Sarmiento. Playing career Martínez started his career with local club Sarmiento, appearing three times as the club were relegated from the 2004–05 Primera B Nacional; he remained for three further years in Primera B Metropolitana. Francisco Alfredo Martínez (born 4 June 1990) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a left-back or centre-back for Flandria. Francisco "Kiko" Martínez Sánchez (born 7 March 1986) is a Spanish former professional boxer who competed from 2004 to 2023. He was a world champion in two weight classes, holding the IBF super-bantamweight title from 2013 to 2014, and the IBF featherweight title from 2021 to 2022.
