Francis Peninsula
Francis Peninsula, also known as Beaver Island, is a tidal island located on the west coast of the Sechelt Peninsula in British Columbia, Canada. Etymology The designation ''Francis Peninsula'' was officially adopted by BC Geographical Names in 1930. The name was changed to ''Beaver Island'' on 28 July 1945 as identified on British Admiralty Charts. BC Geographical Names reverted the name back to ''Francis Peninsula'' on 4 April 1972 in order to conform with its entrenched local usage. Geography Francis Peninsula forms the southern part of Pender Harbour. During high and neap tide, the peninsula is divided from the mainland by Bargain Narrows (an arm of Pender Harbour) and Bargain Bay. During low tide, the island rejoins the mainland to become a peninsula. A two-lane road connects the island to the mainland via a short bridge. Pender Harbour, British Columbia
Pender Harbour (''ḵalpilin'' in ''she shashishalhem'') is a harbour on British Columbia's Sunshine Coast, on the east side of Malaspina Strait. Tides are the rise and fall of sea levels caused by the combined effects of the gravitational forces exerted by the Moon (and to a much lesser extent, the Sun) and are also caused by the Earth and Moon orbiting one another. Tide tables can be used for any given locale to find the predicted times and amplitude (or "tidal range"). Sechelt Peninsula
The Sechelt Peninsula is located on the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, just northwest of Vancouver. It is bounded to the west by Malaspina Strait (separating it from Texada Island), to the north by Agamemnon Channel (separating it from Nelson Island) and Jervis Inlet, to the east by Sechelt Inlet (separating it from mainland British Columbia), and to the south by the Strait of Georgia (separating it from Vancouver Island.
