Francis Norie-Miller
Sir Francis Norie-Miller, 1st Baronet (11 March 1859 – 4 July 1947) was a British insurance company manager director. He was also a Liberal and later Liberal National politician. Although he was born in England, his chief associations were with Scotland and in particular the city of Perth. In 1936, he was created a Baronet with the title of Norie-Miller of Cleeve in the New Year's Honours List for political and public service in the County of Perth and for his local philanthropy. Family and education Norie-Miller was born at Cheshunt in Hertfordshire, the son of Henry Miller, the Chief Statistical Officer for HM Customs and his wife Anne Norrie. Norie-Miller was educated privately and then trained for the law but he never practised and began a career in insurance instead. In 1884 he married Grace Harvey Day, the daughter of the vicar of Cheshunt. Francis Pickens Miller
Francis Pickens Miller (June 5, 1895 – August 3, 1978) was an American military and intelligence officer and Virginia politician who served in the Virginia House of Delegates for two terms (from 1938 until 1942), representing Fairfax County, Virginia. He became one of the leading Democratic critics of the Byrd Organization (sometimes called "antis"), and unsuccessfully ran in the Democratic primaries for Virginia Governor in 1949 against John S. Battle and U.S. Senator against Harry F. Byrd in 1952. Early and family life Born in Middlesboro, Bell County, Kentucky to Rev. Francis Trevelyan Miller
Francis Trevelyan Miller (October 8, 1877 – November 7, 1959) was an American writer and filmmaker. He is known for his books about exploration, travel and photography. He wrote many books about the American Civil War, including '' The Photographic History of the Civil War, in Ten Volumes'' (New York: The Review of Reviews Co., 1912). He also wrote ''History of WWII: Armed Services Memorial Edition''. He made several feature films and wrote the screenplay for the 1919 film ''Deliverance'', about Helen Keller. In 1955 his photograph of children at a Chicago funfair was selected by Edward Steichen for MoMA's world-touring '' The Family of Man'' exhibition.
