Francis Charles Fraser
Francis Charles Fraser (16 June 1903 - 21 October 1978) was a Scottish zoologist, one of the world's leading authorities on cetacea (whales and dolphins). He worked at the British Museum (Natural History) from 1933 to 1969. Life He was born at Dingwall, Ross-shire, the son of James Fraser, master saddler and blacksmith, and Barbara Anne Macdonald. He was educated at Dingwall Academy and the University of Glasgow. Following a brief period as demonstrator in the department of geology at the University of Glasgow, Fraser worked from 1925-33 as a zoologist for the British government's Discovery Committee, investigating whale stocks around the Falkland Islands. In 1933 Fraser started as assistant keeper in the department of zoology at the British Museum (Natural History), soon specialising in whale research. Francis Humphris Fraser (1833–1911) was a politician in Wellington, New Zealand. Early life Fraser was born in London, England, in 1833. He spent his childhood in Edinburgh, where he studied at Watson's Hospital School before returning to London in 1847. Fraser then promptly left London bound for New Zealand. He arrived in Wellington on board the ''Wild Duck'' in 1864. Sir Francis Richard Fraser (14 February 1885 – 2 October 1964) was born in Edinburgh, Scotland, to Sir Thomas Richard Fraser, the Professor of Materia Medica at the University of Edinburgh and member of the Royal Society, and Susanna Margaret Duncan. After attending Edinburgh Academy and Christ's College at Cambridge University, Fraser received his medical training from the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 1910 with M.B., Ch.B. He interned at the Royal Infirmary and the Hospital for Sick Children, both in Edinburgh. In 1922, he received his M.D. from the University of Edinburgh Medical School. By chance, due to an illness of his father's, Fraser was asked to host a dinner in honor of Abraham Flexner. Flexner convinced Fraser to go to the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research in the United States for his postgraduate work. Wilbur Gleason Zeigler (1857–1923) was a lawyer and writer who is best known for founding the Marlovian theory of Shakespeare authorship in the preface and notes to his 1895 novel ''It Was Marlowe''. He also wrote on the history of Ohio, the culture of North Carolina, and the San Francisco earthquake of 1906, of which he was a survivor. Early career Zeigler was born near Fremont, Ohio in 1857.
