The Italian Catholic Diocese of Ugento-Santa Maria di Leuca ( la, Dioecesis Uxentina-S. Mariae Leucadensis) in Apulia, has existed under this name since 1959. It is a suffragan of the Archdiocese of Lecce. The historic Diocese of Ugento has existed since the thirteenth century. History While it was part of the Byzantine empire, Ugento had Greek bishops and was subject to the Patriarch of Constantinople. Ugento was destroyed by the Saracens in the 8th century, and by the Turks in 1527.Cappelletti, p. 318. The earliest recorded bishop, Joannes, is known from a Greek liturgical text, and he may have been a Greek bishop. The Greek rite flourished in many places in the diocese of Ugento until 1591. Veronese Riddle
The Veronese Riddle ( it, Indovinello veronese) is a riddle written in late Vulgar Latin, or early Romance, on the Verona Orational, probably in the 8th or early 9th century, by a Christian monk from Verona, in northern Italy. It is an example of a writing-riddle, a popular genre in the Middle Ages and still in circulation in recent times. Discovered by Luigi Schiaparelli in 1924, it may be the earliest extant example of Romance writing in Italy. Text The text, with a literal translation, runs: Explanation The subject of the riddle is the writer himself: the oxen are his fingers which draw a feather (the white plow) across the page (the white field), leaving a trail of ink (the black seed). Francesco Bruni (born 30 September 1961) is an Italian screenwriter and director. Life and career Born in Rome, Bruni started his professional career as a screenwriter in 1991, for the film ''Condominio''. In 1994 he started a long collaboration with director Paolo Virzì with Virzì's debut film '' La bella vita''. In 2011 Bruni made his directorial debut with '' Easy!'', which got him the David di Donatello for Best New Director as well as the Silver Ribbon in the same category. Bruni teaches screenwriting at the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome. He is the father of rapper and singer Side Baby. Francesco "Checco" Bruni (born 11 April 1973) is a professional sailor from Italy, together with James Spithill, helmsman of Luna Rossa during the America's Cup 2021. He is the brother of the sailor Gabriele Bruni with whom he teamed up in 49er regattas during the 2000 Summer Olympics held in Sydney, Australia. Biography He has competed in the Summer Olympics three times, all in different classes. He finished 12th at the 1996 Olympics in a Laser, 11th at the 2000 Olympics in a 49er and 7th at the 2004 Olympics in the Star class. Bruni raced with Luna Rossa Challenge at the 2003 and 2007 Louis Vuitton Cups. He skippered the Azzurra team during the 2009 and 2010 Louis Vuitton Trophy events and with Team Synergy in the 2010 Louis Vuitton Trophy Dubai, before re-joining to Luna Rossa Challenge for the 2011–13 America's Cup World Series and 2013 Louis Vuitton Cup.
