Frances Riddle
Frances Riddle (born in Houston) is an American-born literary translator, specializing in the translation of contemporary Latin American literature into English. She has a BA in Spanish Language and Literature from Louisiana State University and an MA in Translation Studies from the University of Buenos Aires. To date, she has translated more than a dozen novels for leading translation houses such as New Directions Publishing, Dalkey Archive Press and Charco Press. Originally from Houston, Texas, she lives in Buenos Aires, Argentina. In April 2022, Riddle's translation of Claudia Piñeiro's novel ''Elena Knows'' was shortlisted for the International Booker Prize. Louisiana State University
Louisiana State University (officially Louisiana State University and Agricultural and Mechanical College, commonly referred to as LSU) is a public land-grant research university in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Martín Felipe Castagnet
Martín Felipe Castagnet is an Argentine writer. He was born in La Plata on May 31, 1986. He obtained a PhD in literature from the National University of La Plata. He is an editor of the bilingual journal ''The Buenos Aires Review''. His first novel ''Bodies of Summer'' won the Saint-Nazaire MEET Young Latin American Literature Award and has been translated into English (by Frances Riddle), French, and Hebrew. Isabel Allende
Isabel Angélica Allende Llona (; born in Lima, 2 August 1942) is a Chilean writer. Andrea Jeftanovic
Andrea Jeftanovic (born October 15, 1970, in Santiago de Chile) is a Chilean author, sociologist and academic. Jeftanovic was three when the September 11, 1973 Chilean military coup took place. She grew up under Augusto Pinochet's military regime. Jeftanovic has commented that the 17 years of military dictatorship that Chileans lived under had a profound effect on the development of a Chilean identity, by interrupting how Chileans perceive themselves or how the world perceives Chile. She graduated from the Universidad Católica in social science and earned a doctorate in Hispanic-American literature from the University of California, Berkeley. María Fernanda Ampuero
María Fernanda Ampuero (Guayaquil, 14 April 1976) is an Ecuadorian feminist writer and journalist. Biography Ampuero studied college at Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil, where she shared classes with writers such as Solange Rodríguez, Luis Carlos Mussó, among others. In December 2004 she traveled to Spain with the intention of chronicling the lives of Ecuadorian migrants, but decided to stay in Spain herself. For the next decade she wrote numerous articles about migrants' lives and their economic hardships that were published in magazines around Latin America and Europe.
