Fran Logan
Francis Michael Logan (born 25 February 1956) is a former politician in Western Australia, who was the Minister for Emergency Services and Corrective Services in the McGowan Labor Government from 2017 to 2021, . He was elected to the south western electorate of Cockburn for the Labor Party in 2001, and retired from the Legislative Assembly in 2021. Biography Logan trained as a mechanic in his native England before emigrating to Western Australia in 1980 after travelling around Asia. He worked in the aircraft and mining industries in New South Wales and Western Australia and later completed a Bachelor of Arts with Honours in History at Sydney University where he won the Committee for the Economic Development of Australia National Award for his thesis examining Australia's trade relations with Japan and China. Alan Carpenter
Alan John Carpenter (born 4 January 1957) is a former Australian politician who served as the 28th Premier of Western Australia, from 2006 to 2008. From Albany, Carpenter graduated from the University of Western Australia, and worked as a journalist before entering politics. A member of the Labor Party, he was first elected to the Legislative Assembly at the 1996 state election, representing the seat of Willagee. In the Gallop ministry, which took office following the 2001 election, Carpenter was Minister for Education (later Education and Training), as well as holding several other portfolios. He replaced Geoff Gallop as premier in January 2006, following Gallop's resignation, but Labor lost office following a hung parliament at the 2008 election, with Colin Barnett becoming premier as the leader of a minority Liberal Party government. Michelle Hopkins Roberts (née Thomas; born 29 February 1960) is an Australian politician currently serving as Speaker of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly. She has been a Labor Party member of the Legislative Assembly since 1994. She served as a minister in the governments of Geoff Gallop and Alan Carpenter between 2001 and 2008.
