Fox Footy Longest Kick
Fox Footy Longest Kick, established by Fox Footy in 2015, is an annual kicking competition. Each year, ten or more players take turns to try to kick a Sherrin football as far as they can across the Yarra River, with the winner being the person who kicks the farthest. The competition takes place on the AFL Grand Final day each year. The reigning champion is Daniel Rich, who kicked a torpedo punt on the day of the 2023 AFL Grand Final. As of the completion of the 2023 edition, Bryce Gibbs' 72.3-metre (237 ft) kick from 2016 is the record, and nobody has ever cleared the river. Due to a revitalisation project at Birrarung Marr on the banks of the Yarra River, the 2024 edition did not go ahead. Fox Footy (stylised as FOX FOOTY) is an Australian rules football subscription television channel dedicated to screening Australian rules football matches and related programming. It is owned by Fox Sports Australia operated out of its Melbourne based studios and available throughout Australia on Foxtel, and Optus Television. The channel is a revival of the former Fox Footy Channel, which was in operation between 2002 and 2006. The channel recommenced prior to the 2012 AFL season after a new broadcast agreement was reached between the former Premier Media Group, Austar, Foxtel and the Australian Football League (AFL). Drew Petrie
Drew Petrie (born 15 October 1982) is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the North Melbourne Football Club and the West Coast Eagles in the Australian Football League (AFL). He came out of retirement in 2019 to play for the West Coast Eagles in the Western Australian Football League (WAFL). AFL career Petrie debuted in 2001 and played more than 300 games for North Melbourne Football Club. He played in a variety of roles for the Kangaroos including centre half-forward, defence and ruck. Charles Curnow (born 3 February 1997) is a professional Australian rules footballer playing for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL). A key position forward, Curnow is a two-time winner of Coleman Medal as leading goalkicker in the AFL home-and-away season. Jarryd Roughead (born 23 January 1987) is an Australian rules football coach and former player. He was formerly an assistant coach with the St Kilda Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).
