Forward Operating Base Q-West
Qayyarah Airfield West () is an Iraqi Air Force base in the Qayyarah subdistrict of Mosul District in northern Iraq. It was captured by U.S. Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003. It was also known as Q–West or Key West by the various U.S. Army Forces and civilian contractors stationed there. Control of the base was returned to Iraq in March 2020. History Saddam Era Formerly known as Saddam Airbase, the facility is located west of the Tigris River, west of Qayyarah town, south of Mosul and about north of Baghdad. Iraqi Armed Forces
The Iraqi Armed Forces are the military forces of the Iraq, Republic of Iraq. They consist of the Iraqi Army, Ground forces, the Iraqi Army Aviation Command, Army Aviation Command, the Iraqi Air Force, the Iraqi Air Defence Command, Air Defence Command, and the Iraqi Navy. The 2nd Battalion, 8th Field Artillery Regiment is the field artillery battalion organic to the 1st Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 11th Airborne Division. A Corps Support Group, or CSG, was a brigade-sized unit in the United States Army. A CSG differs from a Divisional support command (DISCOM) in that it is a corps, not a divisional, asset. Doctrinally, a CSG serves corps units, not division units, but in practice CSGs typically have a close working relationship with a particular division especially in garrison. A CSG's subordinate units also may be parceled out to different commands in theater, thus their wartime organization will normally significantly differ from their garrison organization. Typically, a CSG and its subordinate units will only deploy as far forward as the Division Support Area. 37th Engineer Battalion
The 37th Engineer Battalion ("Eagle Battalion") was an airborne engineer battalion in the United States Army, subordinate to the 2d Brigade Combat Team, 82d Airborne Division, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
