Vevelstad is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Nordland Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Helgeland Districts of Norway, traditional region. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Forvika, Forvik. The municipality is relatively small and isolated, with no road connections to the rest of Norway. Hamnøya, Vevelstad
Hamnøya is an island in Vevelstad Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. The island lies about off shore from the mainland of the municipality, separated by the Vevelstadsundet strait. The island is only accessible by boat and in 2021 it had 35 permanent residents living on the island. The southern part of the island is rocky, but relatively low. The northern part has a well-developed beach area. There is a county road that crosses the island from the south (Hamnsundet) to the north (Vågsodden) with a car ferry from Vågsodden to Forvik on the mainland and also to Tjøtta in Alstahaug Municipality. Vevelstad Church
Vevelstad Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vevelstad Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Forvika. It is the main church for the Vevelstad parish which is part of the Sør-Helgeland prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The white, wooden church was built in a long church style in 1796 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 250 people. The church was renovated in 1871, expanding the length of the nave and increasing the ceiling height. A strait is a water body connecting two seas or water basins. Norwegian County Road 17
County Road 17 (), also known as the Coastal Highway (), is a Norwegian highway that runs from the town of Bodø in Nordland county (in the north) to the town of Steinkjer in Trøndelag county (in the south). It is long and includes six ferry crossings. The road runs along the coast of Nordland and Trøndelag counties through 28 different municipalities. This road is a much more scenic, albeit longer and more time-consuming, route than the inland European Route E6 highway. Prior to 1 January 2010, this was National Road 17 (), but control and maintenance of the road was transferred to the counties from the national government on that date, so now it is a county road. Tjøtta is a village in Alstahaug Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located on the southern tip of the island of Tjøtta, which is located south of the large island of Alsta. The village is located on an island, but it does have a mainland road connection via Norwegian County Road 17 and a series of bridges heading north to the town of Sandnessjøen. The historic Tjøtta Church is located in the village. The village had a population (2017) of 214 and a population density of .
