Former Utopia
Former Utopia is a rock band from London, England. They formed after meeting at a Silver Jews gig in 2006. The band toured the UK with Julie Doiron in 2009 and with smallgang 2011 and Europe with Shonen Knife in 2012. They have also shared stages with Bottomless Pit, Uzeda, COME, Bellini, Thee More Shallows, Chris Brokaw, Geoff Farina, Shannon Wright, David Grubbs and PW Long. The band's ''Collapsar'' EP was self-recorded at Karma Studios in a day at Stoke Newington in 2012, and mixed and mastered by Matthew Barnhart at Echolab Studios in Denton. David Grubbs (born September 21, 1967) is an American composer, guitarist, pianist, and vocalist. He was a founding member of Squirrel Bait, Bastro, and Gastr del Sol. He has also played in Codeine, The Red Krayola, Bitch Magnet and The Wingdale Community Singers. Lazarus Clamp are an English band punk rock band, formed in Leicester in 1994, known for keeping a low profile and for its humorous live performances. History The band's debut single "Sea Sore Songs" was released on Amberley/Cleverlegs. The band had other early releases on Bearos Records and Sorted, both Midlands-based. The band had a good relationship with the now-defunct Guildford label, Words, and Works Rejected. Incubate (festival)
Incubate was an annual multidisciplinary arts festival held every September in Tilburg, Netherlands from 2005 to 2016. It was originally named ZXZW, but changed its name in 2009 to "Incubate" after a request from the Austin, US-based festival SXSW. The festival exhibited indie culture events including music, contemporary dance, film and visual arts. It hosted more than 200 artists to an international audience, with performances of black metal, free jazz, street art and academic dance taking place alongside one another. Preston Wright Long III (aka Preston Cleveland) is an American musician, journalist and documentary filmmaker. He is best known as lead singer and guitar player for the groups Wig, Mule and P.W. Long's Reelfoot; most of his recorded work has been released and/or distributed by Touch and Go Records. Shannon Wright
Shannon Wright is an American singer-songwriter. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, United States, where she spent her childhood. Former member of the band Crowsdell, Shannon Wright moved from New York to Chapel Hill, North Carolina in 1998, and while in Chapel Hill, Wright started writing songs and playing them for friends. With their encouragement she sent a 4-track cassette tape to a friend of a friend who started Overcoat Records. They released her first 7" ''A Tin Crown for the Social Bash''. Geoff Farina
Karate is an American band, formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1993 by Geoff Farina, Eamonn Vitt and Gavin McCarthy, with Jeff Goddard joining in 1995. The band split up in 2005 before reuniting in 2022. The band is characterized by fusion of indie rock, emo, post-hardcore, post-rock and jazz, with the jazz influence becoming more dominant in later releases. In particular, Farina has cited Minutemen, Beefeater, and McCoy Tyner as major influences on their sound. Chris Brokaw (born August 1, 1964) is an American musician, best known for his work with the bands Come (American band), Come and Codeine (band), Codeine. Life and career While studying at Oberlin College, Brokaw met many people who became figures on the American indie rock scene of the 1990s, among them Codeine (band), Stephen Immerwahr, with whom Brokaw formed Codeine, as well as Sooyoung Park of Bitch Magnet and Seam (band), Seam, John McEntire of Tortoise (band), Tortoise, and Liz Phair.
