Forlorn River (1937 Film)
''Forlorn River'' is a 1937 American Western film directed by Charles Barton and starring Buster Crabbe, June Martel, and Harvey Stephens. Based on the 1927 novel of the same name by Zane Grey, the film is about a cowboy name Nevada who takes a job on a ranch rounding up horses. He comes into conflict with a powerful cattleman and former bankrobber. Charles Barton (director)
Charles Barton (May 25, 1902December 5, 1981) was an American film and vaudeville actor and film director. He won an Oscar for best assistant director in 1933. His first film as a director was the Zane Grey feature ''Wagon Wheels'', starring Randolph Scott, in 1934. Barton worked in Hollywood B-movie units. From 1946, he was a principal director of the Abbott and Costello comedies, such as '' The Time of Their Lives'', '' Buck Privates Come Home,'' '' Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein,'' and '' Africa Screams''. He later directed Walt Disney films such as '' The Shaggy Dog'' and '' Toby Tyler''. His extensive work for television included every episode of ''Amos 'n' Andy'' in the 1950s, a total of 90 episodes of '' Dennis the Menace'' in the 1960s, and 106 episodes of ''Family Affair'' from 1967 to 1971. Chester Conklin
Chester Cooper Conklin (January 11, 1886 – October 11, 1971) was an early American film comedian who started at Keystone Studios as one of Mack Sennett’s Keystone Cops, often paired with Mack Swain. He appeared in a series of films with Mabel Normand and worked closely with Charlie Chaplin, both in silent and sound films. Early life Conklin was born in Oskaloosa, Iowa. One of three children, he grew up in a violent household. When he was eight, his mother was found burned to death in the family garden. Although first judged a suicide, his father, a devoutly religious man who hoped his son would be a minister, was eventually charged with murder, but found not guilty at trial. Oscar George "Dutch" Hendrian (January 19, 1896 – December 13, 1953) was an American actor and former American football player in the National Football League. Career Football Hendrian first played college football at the University of Pittsburgh where he played on the school's freshman football team in 1919. He also played on the school's freshman baseball team and performed in the university's student theatrical Cap and Gown Club in the spring of 1920. Hendrian then transferred to Princeton University where he finished out his college football career. He started his professional career as a running back in the NFL with the Akron Pros in 1923. Lee Berrian Powell (May 15, 1908 – July 30, 1944) was an American film actor known for leading or other major roles in several serials and B-westerns. He was the first actor to portray The Lone Ranger on film.
