Forlani Government
The Forlani Cabinet, led by Arnaldo Forlani, was the 38th cabinet of the Italian Republic. The government was composed of the DC, PSI, PSDI and PRI, with the abstention of the PLI. Since in the Italian Senate the abstention is valid as a contrary vote, the two senators of the PLI did not take part in the vote of confidence to the government. He fell as a result of the Propaganda Due, P2 lodge scandal. Forlani resigned on 26 May 1981. Arnaldo Forlani
Arnaldo Forlani (; 8 December 1925 – 6 July 2023) was an Italian politician who served as the Prime Minister of Italy from 1980 to 1981. He also held the office of Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Minister of Defence. A member of the right-wing faction of the Christian Democracy (DC) party, Forlani was one of the most prominent Italian politicians from the 1970s to early 1990s. He led the DC party on two occasions: between 1969 and 1973, and between 1989 and 1992. Forlani's permiership, which lasted less than a year, was strongly marked by the 1980 Irpinia earthquake and the P2 lodge scandal, the latter causing his resignation in June 1981. In 1981, together with Bettino Craxi and Giulio Andreotti, he promoted the Pentapartito, the political coalition between the three major Italian parties that ruled Italy between 1981 and 1991. Propaganda Due
(; P2) was a Masonic lodge, founded in 1877, within the tradition of Continental Freemasonry and under the authority of Grand Orient of Italy. Its Masonic charter was withdrawn in 1976, and it was transformed by Worshipful Master Licio Gelli into an international, illegal, clandestine, anti-communist, anti-Soviet, anti-Marxist, and radical right criminal organization and secret society operating in contravention of Article 18 of the Constitution of Italy that banned all such secret associations. Licio Gelli continued to operate the unaffiliated lodge from 1976 to 1984. Emilio Colombo (; 11 April 1920 – 24 June 2013) was an Italian politician. A member of the Christian Democracy party, he served as Prime Minister of Italy from August 1970 to February 1972. In 2003, he was appointed senator for life, a seat he held until his death. During his long political career, Colombo held many offices in several governments. Girolamo Francesco Maria Mazzola (11 January 150324 August 1540), also known as Francesco Mazzola or, more commonly, as Parmigianino (, , ; "the little one from Parma"), was an Italian Mannerist painter and printmaker active in Florence, Rome, Bologna, and his native city of Parma. The Cassa del Mezzogiorno () was a public effort by the government of Italy to stimulate economic growth and development in the less developed Southern Italy (also known as the ''Mezzogiorno''). It was established in 1950 primarily to encourage the development of public works and infrastructure (roads, bridges, hydroelectric and irrigation) projects, and to provide credit subsidies and tax advantages to promote investments. It was dissolved in 1984, although its mandate was maintained by successive, less centralized institutions.
