Ford Mighty F-350
The Ford Mighty F-350 is a concept heavy-duty pickup truck designed by Ford and debuted at the 2002 Detroit Auto Show. It was the subject of Ford's first partnership with the Tonka toy truck producer. The Mighty F-350 is equipped with a 6.0 L Power Stroke turbo-diesel V8 engine, mated to a 5-speed (''5R110W'') automatic transmission and hydraulic launch assist. Ford Mighty F-350 styling was used for the production 2004 Ford F-150. Design and history High belt line and hood created a tough-looking body. Ford Super Duty
The Ford Super Duty (also known as the Ford F-Series Super Duty) is a series of heavy-duty pickup trucks produced by the Ford Motor Company since the 1999 model year. Slotted above the consumer-oriented Ford F-150, the Super Duty trucks are an expansion of the Ford F-Series range, from F-250 to the F-600. The F-250 through F-450 are offered as pickup trucks, while the F-350 through F-600 are offered as chassis cabs. Rather than adapting the lighter-duty F-150 truck for heavier use, Super Duty trucks have been designed as a dedicated variant of the Ford F-Series. The Ford F-250 Super Chief was a concept heavy-duty truck built by Ford. It featured a tri-flex fueling system that allowed users to use three different fuels including gasoline, E85 ethanol or hydrogen. This was intended to make the Super Chief more attractive to customers who were concerned about finding fuel as the ethanol and hydrogen infrastructures are developing. In a tri-flex fueling system owners could utilize any given option at any one time. It came with a stock bed cover and liner; it was a crew cab. In addition, the rear doors have been converted to suicide doors. The tri-flex fueling system on the Ford F-250 Super Chief allowed operators to go 500 miles between total refueling with the supercharger activated only when using the hydrogen fueling system. Fifth-wheel Coupling
The fifth-wheel coupling provides the link between a semi-trailer and the towing truck, tractor unit, leading trailer or dolly. The coupling consists of a kingpin, a vertical steel pin protruding from the bottom of the front of the semi-trailer, and a horseshoe-shaped coupling device called a ''fifth wheel'' on the rear of the towing vehicle. As the connected truck turns, the downward-facing surface of the semi-trailer (with the kingpin at the center) rotates against the upward-facing surface of the fixed fifth wheel, which does not rotate. To reduce friction, grease is applied to the surface of the fifth wheel. Special Vehicle Team, also known as SVT, was an arm of Ford Motor Company responsible for the development of the company's highest-performance vehicles.
