Forces Armées Neutralistes
The Neutralist Armed Forces ( French: ''Forces Armées Neutralistes''; FAN) were a Laotian rebel group and political movement active in the Laotian Civil War. It was founded in August 1960 in the wake of the August 1960 coup, led by mutinous Laotian National Army officers of the 2nd Parachute Battalion, that ovethrew the military government of Phoumi Nosavan. The goals and aspirations of the rebel movement was to sought to establish Laos as a neutral state that would not align with the US nor the Soviet-bloc, as well as end the rampant corruption of the Royal Lao government. Following their defeat in the Battle of Vientiane in defeat on 16 December 1960, the FAN retreated to the Plain of Jars and the following year was spent in conflict with Royalist guerrillas. French Language

SEATO
The Southeast Asia Treaty Organization (SEATO) was an international organization for collective defense in Southeast Asia created by the Southeast Asia Collective Defense Treaty signed in September 1954 in Manila, Philippines. The formal institution of SEATO was established on 19 February 1955 at a meeting of treaty partners in Bangkok, Thailand. The organization's headquarters was also in Bangkok. A total of eight members joined the organization in its lifetime. Primarily created to block further communist gains in Southeast Asia, SEATO is generally considered a failure, as internal conflict and dispute hindered general use of the SEATO military; however, SEATO-funded cultural and educational programs left longstanding effects in Southeast Asia. Operation Momentum
Operation Momentum was a guerrilla training program during the Laotian Civil War run by the Central Intelligence Agency to raise a guerrilla force of Hmong hill-tribesmen in northeastern Laos to fight the North Vietnamese Army (PAVN) and their Pathet Lao allies. It was planned by James William Lair and carried out by the Thai Police Aerial Reinforcement Unit. Begun on 17 January 1961, the three-day ''Auto Defense Choc'' (Self Defense Shock) course graduated a clandestine guerrilla army of 5,000 warriors by 1 May, and of 9,000 by August. It scored its first success the day after the first ADC company graduated, on 21 January 1961, when 20 ADC troopers ambushed and killed 15 Pathet Lao. Prince Sisouk na Champassak (; 28 March 1928 in Pakse, Champassak, Laos – 10 May 1985 in Santa Ana, California, United States) was the eldest son of Chao Bounsouane na Champassak, who was in turn the eldest son of the last King of Champassak, Chao Ratsadanay. His brother is Chao Sisanga Na Champassak. Sisouk was a member of the Na Champassak royal family or house. He served as Secretary General of the Royal Government in the Kingdom of Laos. Bernard Fall
Bernard B. Fall (November 19, 1926 – February 21, 1967) was a prominent war correspondent, historian, political scientist, and expert on Indochina during the 1950s and 1960s. Born in Austria, he moved with his family to France as a child after the Anschluss. He started fighting for the French Resistance at the age of 16 and later for the French Army during World War II. In 1951, he first came to the United States for graduate studies at Syracuse University, returning and making his residence there. He taught at Howard University for most of his career and made regular trips to Southeast Asia to learn about changes and their societies. He predicted the failures of France and the United States in their wars in Vietnam because of their tactics and lack of understanding of the societies. He was killed by a landmine in South Vietnam while he was accompanying US Marines on a patrol in 1967. The Laos, Lao People's Democratic Republic (LPDR) is the modern state derived from the former Kingdom of Laos. The political source of Lao history and cultural identity is the Lao people, Lao kingdom of Lan Xang, which during its apogee emerged as one of the largest kingdoms in Southeast Asia.
