For Our Crete
For our Crete (Greek: Για την Κρήτη μας) is a social-democratic regional political association in Crete, Crete, Greece, led by Stavros Arnaoutakis. It is the ''de facto'' Cretan grouping of the PASOK, Panhellenic Socialist Movement. The association has also previously received support from Syriza, SYRIZA and New Democracy (Greece), New Democracy parties. For our Crete is considered the most successful regional political association in Crete, as it has won all regional elections since its formation. History The association was founded to contest in the 2010 regional elections in Crete, as Crete - First Power. It won a majority of seats in the Regional Council and Stavros Arnaoutakis was elected Regional Governor for the first time. Stavros Arnaoutakis
Stavros Arnaoutakis (; born 25 May 1956) is a Greek politician and former Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) between 2004 and 2009. He also served as a Member of the Hellenic Parliament and Deputy Minister for the Economy, Competitiveness and Shipping from 2009 to 2010. 2023 Crete Regional Election
The 2023 Cretan regional election took place on 8 October 2023, simultaneously with the rest of Greece. The election was for all 45 elected seats of the Regional Council of Crete as well as the Regional Governor. This was the fourth Cretan regional election and the incumbent Governor (Stavros Arnaoutakis, PASOK) ran for a fourth consecutive term. The ballot resulted in the election of Stavros Arnaoutakis, the incumbent Governor, as Regional Governor with 78% of the votes. The left-wing candidate, former SYRIZA MP Spyros Danellis, came in second with 11 percent. The KKE candidate, Alekos Marinakis, received 8 percent of the vote. New Democracy (Greece)
New Democracy ( , ND/ΝΔ) is a liberal-conservative political party in Greece. In contemporary Greek politics, New Democracy has been the main centre-right to right wing political party and one of the two major parties along with its historic rival, the Panhellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK).
