''For Now'' is the second album by Australian indie rock band DMA's, released on 27 April 2018. The album was supported by seven singles: "Dawning", "In the Air", "For Now", "Break Me" "Do I Need You Now?", "The End", and "Time & Money". At the ARIA Music Awards of 2018, the album was nominated for three awards; Best Group, Best Rock Album and Best Independent Release. At the J Awards of 2018, the album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year. Four tracks from the album were voted into consecutive Triple J Hottest 100 countdowns, "Dawning" in 2017 at number 89, and "In the Air", "The End" and "Do I Need You Now?" in 2018 at numbers 40, 61, and 97, respectively. "Time & Money" also came in at #198 in Triple J's Hottest 200 of 2018. DMA's
DMA'S (stylised in all caps) are an Australian three-piece rock band formed in 2012 in Sydney. The band is composed of Tommy O'Dell, Matt Mason, and Johnny Took. They gained popularity for their debut single " Delete" and for their self-titled EP released in 2014. The band's moniker - DMA'S - comes from their former name, "The Dirty MA's". History Johnny Took, Matthew Mason and Tommy O'Dell began playing music together "for about two years" before DMA'S formed. In February 2014, DMA'S were signed to I OH YOU and released their debut single " Delete", which peaked at number 88 on the ARIA Charts. Their self-titled EP was released on 28 March 2014. In February 2016, the band released a full-length album titled ''Hills End''. It peaked at number 8 on the ARIA Albums Chart upon release in March 2016. The ARIA Music Award for Best Group, is an award presented at the annual ARIA Music Awards, which recognises "the many achievements of Aussie artists across all music genres", since 1987. The ARIA Charts are the main Australian music sales charts, issued weekly by the Australian Recording Industry Association. Triple J Hottest 100, 2018
The 2018 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on 27 January 2019. It is the 26th countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by listeners of Australian radio station Triple J. A record-breaking number of voters (2.758 million) participated by choosing their top ten songs of 2018. Ocean Alley's "Confidence" was voted into first place. Ocean Alley also achieved four tracks in the countdown and became the second artist to be voted into No. 1 and No. 100 during the same countdown, after Powderfinger in 1999. Background Triple J's Hottest 100 allows members of the public to vote online for their top ten songs of the year, which are then used to calculate the year's 100 most popular songs. The 2017 Triple J Hottest 100 was announced on 27 January 2018. It was the 25th countdown of the most popular songs of the year, as chosen by listeners of Australian radio station Triple J. A record-breaking number of voters (2.386 million) participated by choosing their top ten songs of 2017. Kendrick Lamar's " Humble" was voted into first place, making him the first person of colour ever to top a Hottest 100. It was also the first track by a non-Australian artist, and the first hip hop song, to win since 2012's " Thrift Shop". Lamar achieved four tracks in the countdown, as did Gang of Youths (a record-equaling three of which were in the top 10), Lorde, and The Jungle Giants. The Triple J Hottest 100 is an annual music listener poll hosted by the publicly-funded, national Australian youth radio station, Triple J. Members of the public are invited to vote for their favourite Australian and alternative music of the year in an online poll conducted two weeks prior to the new year. From 1989 to 2018, the 100 most popular songs were counted down from 12 pm on Australia Day. Since then, the countdown has been held on the fourth weekend of January, due to increasing controversy about Australia Day regarding its marking of the colonisation of Australia and dispossession of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander land. Typically on the day after the Hottest 100, Triple J has played the Hottest 200 ("the songs that didn't quite make it") from 10 am.
