Folldal (village)
Folldal is the administrative centre of Folldal Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located along the river Folla which is a tributary of the large river Glåma. The village grew up around the old Folldal mine. The village lies at the intersection of Norwegian County Road 29 and Norwegian County Road 27. Folldal Church is located on the east side of the village. The village has a population (2024) of 509 and a population density of . Rondane National Park () is the oldest national park in Norway, established on 21 December 1962. The park is located in Innlandet county, in the municipalities of Dovre Municipality, Dovre, Folldal Municipality, Folldal, Sel Municipality, Sel, Nord-Fron Municipality, Nord-Fron, Sør-Fron Municipality, Sør-Fron, Stor-Elvdal Municipality, Stor-Elvdal, and Ringebu Municipality, Ringebu. Dovre National Park
Dovre National Park () is a national park in Innlandet county, Norway. The park was established in 2003. The park covers an area of and the altitude varies from the tree line at about up to its highest point at Fokstuhøe at . The area consists of plateaus and weathered, rounded mountain peaks. The park lies between the two larger and older parks Rondane National Park to the southeast and Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella National Park to the north. Its opening was part of the larger expansion of parks in the area and its purpose was to protect the area between the two parks. Like Dovrefjell-Sunndalsfjella and Rondane, Dovre national park hosts wild Fennoscandian reindeer of Beringia origin. Folldal Church
Folldal Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Folldal Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the village of Folldal. It is the church for the Folldal parish which is part of the Nord-Østerdal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar. The white, wooden church was built in a long church design in 1882 using plans drawn up by the architect Henrik Nissen. The church seats about 320 people. History In 1746, the parish submitted an application to build a new church in the village of Folldal. Construction on the new church took place from 1747 until 1751. The new church was consecrated on 5 December 1751. The new church was a timber-framed cruciform building that was located on the same site as the present church. In 1875–1876, the parish debated replacing the old church with a new, larger church. Henrik Nissen was hired to design the new church. Glåma
The Glomma or Glåma is Norway's longest and most voluminous river. With a total length of , it has a drainage basin that covers 13% of Norway's surface area, all in the southern part of the country. Geography At its fullest length, the river runs from the lake Aursunden in Røros Municipality in Trøndelag county and runs into the Oslofjord at the town of Fredrikstad in Fredrikstad Municipality in Østfold county.
