Folkodia
Folkodia is an international music project formed in 2007 as an offshoot of Folkearth by musicians playing folk and Viking metal. History Folkodia was founded in the end of 2007. Musicians from several countries (Greece, Russia, Switzerland, Lithuania, Australia, Monaco, Canada, USA, Germany, Italy, France, etc.) and other bands (Folkearth, Sunuthar, Minhyriath, Black Knight Symphonia, Troldhaugen, Seventh Sword and some others) had been involved in the project throughout the years. The genre played by the band is epic folk/Viking metal enriched by the use of different acoustic instruments including flute, pipes, and violin. The first album of the project, ''Odes from the past'', was released in June 2008 by the band itself. Later on the band signed a contract with Stygian Crypt Productions for the release of the second album, ''In A Time Of Legends'', that was out on the 14th of April 2009. Folkearth
Folkearth is an international music project created in 2003 by musicians playing folk and viking metal. The name (folk + earth) symbolizes musicians from all over the world playing folk music. So far, a total of twelve full-length albums have been released, with the most recent being ''Balder's Lament''. History The history of the group began in February 2003 when the idea for creating a project which could unite musicians from different countries who play folk and pagan metal originated from some musicians. '' A Nordic Poem'' album was released in 2004. Because of what the band perceived as the poor quality of this record, Folkearth decided to remaster and reissue their debut. On 1 August, 2006, shortly after the reissue of ''A Nordic Poem'' the second album titled '' By the Sword of My Father'' was released. Folk Metal
Folk metal is a fusion genre of heavy metal music and traditional folk music that developed in Europe during the 1990s. It is characterised by the widespread use of folk instruments and, to a lesser extent, traditional singing styles (for example, Dutch Heidevolk, Danish Sylvatica and Spanish Stone of Erech). It also sometimes features soft instrumentation influenced by folk rock. The earliest folk metal bands were Skyclad from England and Cruachan from Ireland. Skyclad's debut album '' The Wayward Sons of Mother Earth'' was released in 1991 and would be considered a thrash metal album with some folk influences, unlike Cruachan’s early work which embraced the folk element as a defining part of their sound. Battle Of The Milvian Bridge (album)
The Battle of the Milvian Bridge took place between the Roman Emperors Constantine I and Maxentius on 28 October 312. It takes its name from the Milvian Bridge, an important route over the Tiber. Constantine won the battle and started on the path that led him to end the Tetrarchy and become the sole ruler of the Roman Empire. Maxentius drowned in the Tiber during the battle; his body was later taken from the river and decapitated, and his head was paraded through the streets of Rome on the day following the battle before being taken to Africa. According to Christian chroniclers Eusebius of Caesarea and Lactantius, the battle marked the beginning of Constantine's conversion to Christianity. A battle cry or war cry is a yell or chant taken up in battle, usually by members of the same combatant group. Battle cries are not necessarily articulate (e.g. "Eulaliaaaa!", "Alala"..), although they often aim to invoke patriotic or religious sentiment. Their purpose is a combination of arousing aggression and esprit de corps on one's own side and causing intimidation on the hostile side. Battle cries are a universal form of display behaviour (i.e., threat display) aiming at competitive advantage, ideally by overstating one's own aggressive potential to a point where the enemy prefers to avoid confrontation altogether and opts to flee.
