''Folkeviljen'' ("People's Will") is a former Norwegian newspaper, Labour Party organization and was established by parish priest and later Member of Parliament Kristian Tønder in Sjøvegan 1911, and published in Harstad from 1917. Among its later editors were Harald Langhelle, Alfred Skar, Sigurd Simensen Sigurd Simensen (19 February 1888 – 27 April 1969) was a Norwegian newspaper editor and politician for the Labour and Communist parties. He was born in Vestfossen. He started his career as an iron and metalworker, working at Thunes Mekaniske ..., Alfons Johansen and Erling Hall-Hofsø. The newspaper ceased publication in 1956. Sigurd Simensen
Sigurd Simensen (19 February 1888 – 27 April 1969) was a Norwegian newspaper editor and politician for the Labour and Communist parties. He was born in Vestfossen. He started his career as an iron and metalworker, working at Thunes Mekaniske Verksted. He first joined the Union of Iron and Metalworkers in 1907, and was politically organized from 1908. He became a leading member of Norges Socialdemokratiske Ungdomsforbund, and was elected to their central board in 1916. He became subeditor of their newspaper ''Klassekampen'' in 1917. In 1918 he was elected to the Labour Party central board, and was hired as travelling secretary for Northern Norway. He also chaired the national association of ''worker's councils'' which sprang up in the same year, post-Russian Revolution. He left the Labour Party's central board in 1919. Erling Hall-Hofsø
Erling Hall-Hofsø (11 January 1917 – 20 May 2010) was a Norwegian newspaper editor and politician for the Labour Party. In his young days he was a boxer for the workers' sports club Harstad AIF. He became a member of the central board of the Workers' Youth League in 1938. In 1946 he was hired as a journalist in the Labour newspaper in Harstad, ''Folkeviljen''. He was promoted to editor-in-chief already in 1947. He remained here until 1956, when the newspaper was incorporated by Tromsø-based newspaper ''Nordlys''. Hall-Hofsø became famous in 1953. His newspaper printed a short piece about an attempted rape which had occurred in Harstad. The police demanded that Hall-Hofsø unveil his source for the news story, but he refused. He was sentenced to jail for maximum three months, with the option of being released if he unveiled his source. Kristian Tønder
Kristian Pedersen Tønder (9 November 1860 – 9 March 1934) was a Norwegian priest and politician for the Labour Party. He was born at Sørli in Nesna Municipality as a son of farmers Peder Mikal Kristoffersen (1819–1885) og Jacobine Kristine Arntsdatter (1830–1896). He graduated from Tromsø Seminary in 1883, and studied theology from 1887 until he graduated with the cand.theol. degree in 1894. At the same time, he also worked as a school teacher in Kristiania. He also taught in the municipalities of Ibestad, Dyrøy and Tranøy during his life. In 1901 he took the practical-theological seminary, and could serve as a clergyman.
