Foliejon Park
Foliejon Park is a manorialism, manorial country house in the civil parish of Winkfield in the England, English county of Berkshire. The building has been listed as Listed building, Grade II since 7 December 1966 and was the temporary residence of Haakon VII of Norway, King Haakon VII during the Nazi occupation of Norway. History Foliejon was initially known as Belestre, a hunting lodge granted by King Edward I of England, Edward I to John Drokensford, Bishop of Bath and Wells, later co-regent for his son, Edward II of England, Edward II. He changed the name of his Berkshire residence to 'Folies Johan', which in Old English language, Anglo-Saxon means 'owned by John'. It is mentioned in the 'Rotulorum Originalium Abbreviatio' that "the palaces of Hyremere and Belestre, commonly called ''folye Johan'' were taken by the King in 1313 as payment for debts of the bishop and assigned in 1317 to Oliver de Bordeaux for the rent of a red rose with license to surround the estate of ''Foly ... Olav V Of Norway
Olav V (, ; born Prince Alexander of Denmark; 2 July 1903 – 17 January 1991) was King of Norway from 1957 until his death in 1991. Olav was born at Sandringham House in England, the only child of Prince Carl of Denmark and Princess Maud of Wales. He became heir apparent to the Norwegian throne when his father was elected King Haakon VII of Norway in 1905. He was the first heir to the Norwegian throne to be brought up in Norway since Olav IV in the 14th century, and his parents made sure that he was given as Norwegian an upbringing as possible. In preparation for his future role, he attended both civilian and military schools. In 1929, he married his first cousin, Princess Märtha of Sweden. Gilbert Blane
Sir Gilbert Blane of Blanefield, 1st Baronet FRSE FRS MRCP (29 August 174926 June 1834) was a Scottish physician who instituted health reform in the Royal Navy. He saw action against both the French and Spanish fleets, and later served as a Commissioner on the Sick and Wounded Board of the Admiralty. He was President of the Medical and Chirurgical Society of London in 1813. Life Born in Blanefield, by Kirkoswald, in Ayrshire, he was the fourth son of Gilbert Blane of Blanefield (d.1771) and Agnes McFadzen. He studied medicine at Edinburgh University and Glasgow University (MD 1778) before moving to London. The challenge of establishing a practice in London was eased by his friendship with Dr William Hunter, elder brother of the famous John Hunter who is now widely regarded as the father of modern surgery in Britain. William Blane FRS (1750 – 22 November 1835) was a British gentleman, landowner and author of miscellaneous articles. Biography Born in Blanefield, near Kirkoswald, in Ayrshire, William Blane was a son of Gilbert Blane of Blanefield (d.1771) and Agnes McFadzen; Sir Gilbert Blane was one of William Blane's brothers. On 16 April 1795 Willam Blane was elected F.R.S. In 1802 he purchased Foliejon Park. Colonel Lord Henry Beauclerk (11 August 1701 – 6 January 1761) was a British Army officer and Whig politician. Beauclerk was the fourth son of Charles Beauclerk, 1st Duke of St Albans and Diana Beauclerk, Duchess of St Albans. On 12 October 1717, he was given a commission as an ensign in the 31st Regiment of Foot. He fought with the regiment in the Thirteenth siege of Gibraltar in 1727, and in October of that year he was made a captain in the 3rd Regiment of Foot. In May 1735 he transferred to the 1st Foot Guards as a lieutenant colonel. In 1740, Beauclerk was elected as a Member of Parliament for Plymouth as a supporter of the administration of Robert Walpole.
