Focused (band)
Focused was a hardcore punk band that originated out of Long Beach, California in 1991, with a Christian hardcore style. The band broke up in 1996, but reunited briefly in 2009. History Focused began in 1991, created by Tim Mann on vocals, John Schoettler on rhythm guitar, Matt Archuletta on bass, and Jeff Boetto ( No For An Answer, Half-Off), on lead guitar. The band played their first song live at a local talent show without an official drummer and asked their friend David Shoemaker to fill-in for that one night. The band would soon bring on Al Christensen on drums. The band played their first official show alongside bands such as Mean Season, Unbroken, and Strife. The following night the band played their second official show at the Irvine Bren Events Center alongside bands such The Crucified, Mortal and Deliverance. Stavesacre are an American rock band from Huntington Beach, California formed in 1995. The band is composed of vocalist Mark Salomon, guitarists Jeff Bellew and Ryan Dennee, bassist Dirk Lemmenes and drummer Sam West. Stavesacre has released six studio albums, two EPs, one split album, one compilation, and one DVD. In 2007, the band stated they would disband following the recording of new songs with original guitarist Jeff Bellew, who had departed in 1999 after the recording of ''Speakeasy''. Those songs were released in the 2009 ''Against the Silence'' EP/DVD documentary. ''All Else Failed'' is the debut studio album by American metalcore band Zao. The album was later re-recorded and released as the identically titled '' All Else Failed'' in 2003. This album on Steadfast Records has had three pressings in total, with different cover art for each pressing: *1st press: 1996 (green artwork) *2nd press: 1999 (brown artwork) *3rd press: 2000 (black artwork) The album was again re-released in 2018, through Steadfast Records, with new artwork and was remixed and remastered. Zao () is an American metalcore band founded in Parkersburg, West Virginia, and later relocated to Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Founded in March 1993, Zao has hosted several musicians and endured numerous roster changes to the point where no original members remain. Former drummer Jesse Smith, vocalist Dan Weyandt, and guitarists Scott Mellinger and Russ Cogdell are seen by some fans as the "core" of Zao, with the current line up being the longest running in the band's history. Project 86 is an American rock band from Orange County, California, formed in 1996. The band has released twelve albums, which have collectively sold nearly 500,000 units worldwide, two EPs, two DVDs, and one live album. In 1998, BEC Recordings released a Project 86 (album), self-titled debut album that was well received by critics and consumers. Advent is a hardcore band from Kernersville, North Carolina. The band featured members of an earlier post-hardcore band named Beloved, and was formed in 2005 after the break of Beloved. The band had released two albums under the label Solid State Records. The band announced in July 2011 that they had disbanded, and held two final shows on September 2 and 3 in South Carolina and North Carolina, respectively. Every Day Life, later simply known as EDL, was a Christian rapcore group. The band became identified with the straight edge movement, which advocates abstinence from sex, drugs and tobacco. The band's first two albums were pulled from Christian bookstores. Their videos were played on MTV, their albums entered the college radio charts, and they were nominated for a Dove Award. The ''Encyclopedia of Contemporary Christian Music'' describes the band as having been "the first group in Christian music to address political issues in a responsible manner." The band wrote about issues of social and economic justice within Christianity and in the larger world.
