Fly Pan Am (album)
''Fly Pan Am'' is the eponymous debut album of Fly Pan Am. It was released in October 1999 by Constellation Records. The album contains a re-recording of the song, "L'espace au sol est redessiné par d'immenses panneaux bleus", which was featured on a split single in 1998 with Godspeed You! Black Emperor. The record also features strange use of instruments and cadence, as well as electronic noises, provided by guest musician Alexandre St-Onge, that abruptly intersect the music. Their second album, titled ''Ceux qui inventent n'ont jamais vécu (?)'', employs the same electronic dissonance, but to a higher degree. Fly Pan Am
Fly Pan Am, or Le Fly Pan Am, are a Canadian experimental rock band formed in Montreal in 1996. They release their albums through the Montreal-based Constellation Records, producing and collaborating on works with Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Shalabi Effect. About the band The band was formed in 1996 by guitarists Jonathan Parant and Roger Tellier-Craig, drummer Felix Morel, and bassist Jean-Sebastien Truchy. Eric Gingras would later on join the band in 2002, contributing guitar and percussion. They additionally shared personnel with Godspeed You! Black Emperor, until guitarist Roger Tellier-Craig left Godspeed You! Black Emperor in 2003 to concentrate full-time on Fly Pan Am. The band is influenced by the French Canadian culture of Quebec, as well as the burgeoning avant-garde musical scene in Montreal. Ceux Qui Inventent N'ont Jamais Vécu (?)
''Ceux qui inventent n'ont jamais vécu (?)'' ''(Those who invent have never lived (?))'' is the second album by Fly Pan Am. It was released by Constellation Records in April 2002. The album, as stated by Constellation Records, has a recurrent theme of "self-sabotage". Electronic noises and textures disrupt and often serve to confuse the listener; the track "Sound-support surface noises reaching out to you" includes sounds mimicking a skipping CD. Alexandre St-Onge, long-time contributor to Fly Pan Am, provides electronic manipulation for the second track. The recording also includes input and performances from many musicians, including David Bryant and Bruce Cawdron from Godspeed You! Black Emperor and Sam Shalabi from Shalabi Effect. The taping and mixing was done at the communal Montreal-based Hotel2Tango in 2001 by Thierry Amar and Efrim Menuck. The artwork was produced by the band members. Music Of Quebec
Like many cosmopolitan cities, Quebec is a home for all genres of music. From folk music to hip hop, music has always played an important role in Quebecer culture. In the 1920s and '30s singer/songwriter Madam Bolduc performed comedic songs in a folk style with Irish influences. Quebec's most popular artists of the last century include the singers: Félix Leclerc (1950s), Gilles Vigneault (1960s–present), Kate and Anna McGarrigle (1970s–present) and Céline Dion (1980s–present). The First Nations and the Inuit of Quebec also have their own traditional music. A local variety of Celtic music is also found. Mastering, a form of audio post production, is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio from a source containing the final mix to a data storage device (the master), the source from which all copies will be produced (via methods such as pressing, duplication or replication). Bass Guitar
The bass guitar, electric bass or simply bass (), is the lowest-pitched member of the string family. It is a plucked string instrument similar in appearance and construction to an electric or an acoustic guitar, but with a longer neck and scale length, and typically four to six strings or courses. Electric Guitar
An electric guitar is a guitar that requires external amplification in order to be heard at typical performance volumes, unlike a standard acoustic guitar (however combinations of the two - a semi-acoustic guitar and an electric acoustic guitar exist). Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Godspeed You! Black Emperor (sometimes abbreviated to GY!BE or Godspeed) is a Canadian post-rock band which originated in Montreal, Quebec in 1994. The group releases recordings through Constellation, an independent record label also located in Montreal. After the release of their debut album in 1997, the group toured regularly from 1998 to 2003. Their second album, 2000's '' Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven'', received critical acclaim and has been named as one of the best albums of the decade. In 2003, the band announced an indefinite hiatus in order for members to pursue other musical interests. In the intervening period, the group was occasionally rumored to have broken up, but finally reconvened for a tour which began in late 2010.
