Fly My Pretties
__NOTOC__ Fly My Pretties is a collaboration of musicians originally from Wellington, New Zealand who are known for coming together to record live albums, in various locations in New Zealand. The different musical backgrounds of the members make for an eclectic mix of songs on their releases. Fly My Pretties was the brainchild of Barnaby Weir, front man of the Black Seeds and Mikee Tucker of Loop Recordings Aot(ear)oa. The objective: To meet, exchange ideas, and then perform and record the results in front of a live audience. History Founded in Wellington in 2004, the ''Fly My Pretties'' cast includes musicians from the Black Seeds, Fat Freddy's Drop, The Phoenix Foundation, Cairo Knife Fight and Paseload to achieve a unique blend of musical styles. Tessa Rain is a New Zealand indie folk singer-songwriter best known for her collaboration with Fly My Pretties. She wrote the songs ''Carrier Pigeon'' and ''Smoke Me'' from '' The Return of Fly My Pretties'', and ''Mauri'' from ''A Story''. Her debut solo album "Dirt Poems" was released in August 2010. Ria Hall
Ria Hall is a Māori recording artist and presenter on Maori TV's ''AIA Marae DIY'' in 2012-13. Life and career Hall was born in 1982 or 1983 and is of Ngāi Te Rangi/Ngāti Ranginui ancestry, and has three older sisters. She grew up in Maungatapu and attended Maungatapu School, Tauranga Intermediate and Tauranga Girls' College. At secondary school she became interested in singing through kapa haka and later joined the kapa haka group Waka Huia. In Wellington in 2006 Hall created a reggae band called Hope Road. She sang at the opening ceremony for the 2011 Rugby World Cup, and released her debut self-titled EP in 2011, which won Best Māori Album at the 2012 New Zealand Music Awards. Mel Parsons (born 21 October 1981) is an indie folk and alternative country singer/songwriter from New Zealand. Early life and education Parsons grew up on a sheep and beef farm in Cape Foulwind, near Westport, New Zealand, Westport, on the West Coast, New Zealand, West Coast of New Zealand's South Island. Parsons started out playing piano, and also picked up the guitar at about 14, finally getting serious in seventh form (about age 17) when applying for the Nelson, New Zealand, Nelson School of Music. Flip Grater (born 1981) is the stage name of singer-songwriter, author, activist and chef Clare Grater, born in Christchurch, New Zealand. Flip Grater started Maiden Records, an independent NZ record label, which has released her own work as well as albums from Urbantramper and Marlon William's first band The Unfaithful Ways. Flip Grater has released two EPs, four critically acclaimed albums and written two books. Anika Rose Moa (born 21 May 1980) is a New Zealand recording artist and television presenter.
