Florin station is a side platformed Sacramento RT light rail station in Sacramento, California, United States. The station was opened on September 26, 2003, and is operated by the Sacramento Regional Transit District. It is served by the Blue Line. The station is located north of Florin Road at Indian Lane, and serves the surrounding residential and commercial areas along Florin Road, the Department of Human Assistance, and Luther Burbank High School. On March 7, 2024, the decades-olFlorin Certified Farmers' Marketmoved to the southernmost parking lot of Florin Station from its previous location near the vacant Florin Sears. Sacramento Subdivision
The Sacramento Subdivision is a rail line owned and operated by the Union Pacific Railroad in the U.S. state of California. The line begins in Marysville as a continuation of the Canyon Subdivision at a junction with the Valley Subdivision (the former Southern Pacific Railroad line), and travels south through the Central Valley to a junction with the Fresno Subdivision in Stockton. South of Downtown Sacramento, the Sacramento RT Light Rail Blue Line runs adjacent to the right of way until a flyover near Consumnes River Boulevard. Island Platform
An island platform (also center platform, centre platform) is a station layout arrangement where a single platform is positioned between two tracks within a railway station, tram stop or transitway interchange. Island platforms are popular on twin-track routes due to pragmatic and cost reasons. They are also useful within larger stations where local and express services for the same direction of travel can be provided from opposite sides of the same platform thereby simplifying transfers between the two tracks. Watt/I-80 station is a below-grade light rail station on the Blue Line of the Sacramento RT Light Rail system operated by the Sacramento Regional Transit District. The station is located in the median of Interstate 80 at its intersection of Watt Avenue, after which the station is named, in the city of North Highlands, California. Watt/I-80 station was the original northern terminus of the RT Light Rail system and it remains the northern terminus of today's Blue Line. The station has had issues with broken elevators, poor signage, poor cleanliness, and safety. The Blue Line is a light rail line in the Sacramento Regional Transit District (SacRT) system. It runs primarily north–south in Sacramento between and Cosumnes River College. Along the route, the Blue Line serves North Highlands, North Sacramento, Downtown and South Sacramento. Portions of the Blue Line run along the original initial alignment between Watt/I-80 and stations. Line description The Blue Line begins at its northern terminus, the Watt/I-80 station.
