Florian Schneider (professor)
Florian Schneider is a German Sinologist, political scientist, and media studies scholar. He is Chair Professor of Modern China at Leiden University and academic director of the LeidenAsiaCentre. His research interests include questions of governance and public administration in the PRC, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, political communication strategies and digital media politics in the Chinese-speaking world, as well as international relations in the East Asian region. Career & Scholarly Contributions Florian Schneider studied Sinology, political science, and economics at Hamburg University until 2005, completed his PhD in Chinese Studies in 2009 at the University of Sheffield, and has worked at Leiden University since 2008. Schneider has worked on numerous research projects that deal with politics, media, and digital technology in East Asia. ''Nations and Nationalism'' is a peer-reviewed academic journal that covers research on nationalism and related issues. It is published quarterly on behalf of the Association for the Study of Ethnicity and Nationalism by Wiley-Blackwell. Anthony D. Smith was the founding editor and the editor until his death in 2016. Aims The first issue of ''Nations and Nationalism'' was published in March 1995. In their editorial for that issue, Anthony D. ''The China Quarterly'' (CQ) is a British triple-anonymous peer-reviewed academic journal established in 1960 on contemporary China including Taiwan. It is considered one of the most important academic journals about China in the world and is published by Cambridge University Press. It covers anthropology, business, literature, the arts, economics, geography, history, international affairs, law, politics, and sociology.
