Florian Hahn (born 14 March 1974) is a German politician of the Christian Social Union (CSU) who has been serving as a member of the Bundestag from the state of Bavaria since 2009. Early career From 2006 until 2009, Hahn worked on public relations at defence company Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) in Munich. Political career Hahn joined the Young Union (JU) in 1989. Hahn first became a member of the Bundestag in the 2009 German federal election. He is a member of the Committee on European Union Affairs and the Defence Committee. Christian Social Union In Bavaria
The Christian Social Union in Bavaria ( German: , CSU) is a Christian-democratic and conservative political party in Germany. Having a regionalist identity, the CSU operates only in Bavaria while its larger counterpart, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), operates in the other fifteen states of Germany. It differs from the CDU by being somewhat more conservative in social matters, following Catholic social teaching. The CSU is considered the ''de facto'' successor of the Weimar-era Catholic Bavarian People's Party. Markus Blume (born 14 February 1975) is a German politician of the Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CSU) who has been serving as State Minister for Science and Art in the cabinet of Minister President Markus Söder since 2022. 2017 German Federal Election
Federal elections were held in Germany on 24 September 2017 to elect the members of the 19th Bundestag. At stake were at least 598 seats in the Bundestag, as well as 111 overhang and leveling seats determined thereafter. The Christian Democratic Union of Germany and the Christian Social Union of Bavaria (CDU/CSU), led by incumbent chancellor Angela Merkel, won the highest percentage of the vote with 33%, though it suffered a large swing against it of more than 8%.
