Floresta Esporte Clube, simply known as Floresta, is a football (soccer) club from Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. Founded in 1954, it currently plays in the Campeonato Cearense Série B and Campeonato Brasileiro série C. History Founded in 1954, the club only joined the regional championships in 2015, playing in the third division of the Campeonato Cearense and immediately achieving promotion to the second level as runners-up. After two years in the second division, the club finished second in 2017 and achieved promotion to the first tier. In the 2017 Copa Fares Lopes, the club was crowned champions and earned a place in the 2018 Copa do Brasil. During the beginning the 2020 season, the Floresta ended up being relegated in the Campeonato Cearense, after finishing in the penultimate position. The Estádio Presidente Vargas, nicknamed ''PV'', is a multi-purpose stadium located in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil. It is currently used mostly for association football and American football matches and is the home stadium of América Football Club (CE), Fortaleza, Ferroviário Atlético Clube and Associação Esportiva Tiradentes. The 2021 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C was a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the third division. It began on 29 May and ended on 20 November 2021. Twenty teams competed in the tournament, twelve returning from the 2020 season, four promoted from the 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D ( Altos, Floresta, Mirassol and Novorizontino) and four relegated from the 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série B ( Botafogo-SP, Figueirense, Oeste and Paraná). 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D
The 2020 Campeonato Brasileiro Série D was a football competition held in Brazil, equivalent to the fourth division. The competition was originally scheduled to begin on 3 May and end on 22 November, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic the tournament was rescheduled for 6 September 2020 – 6 February 2021. Sixty-eight teams competed in the tournament. Sixty-four teams qualified from their state leagues and cups, and four relegated from the 2019 Campeonato Brasileiro Série C ( ABC, Atlético Acreano, Globo and Luverdense). Luverdense declined to participate being replaced by Sinop. The match Guarany de Sobral v Salgueiro, scheduled for 20 September 2020 (Group A3 1st round), was postponed after 12 Guarany de Sobral players tested positive for COVID-19. In the Group A8 12th round, (14 November 2020), São Caetano players refused to play their away match against Marcílio Dias in protest over unpaid wages.
