Floor Thirteen (band)
Floor Thirteen was a Canadian alternative rock band from Winnipeg, Manitoba The band combined 1960s and 1970s influenced rock and roll with 1990s rock sounds. History Formation and ''Mmmm!'' Floor Thirteen formed in 1998 when drummer Billy Kiely and Marc 'Jaws' Jaworski, who had been jamming together, came together with singer/bassist Aaron Vandall. Jeremy Koz later joined the group, and Floor Thirteen performed as part of the Powerball concert in Winnipeg in 2005 along with Our Lady Peace and Danko Jones. The band performed at the NXNE festival in 2007. They entered 441 Studios in Winnipeg with Juno Award-winning producer Brandon Friesen. The resulting album, ''Mmmm!'', was released in 2008, and debuted at number one in Winnipeg record sales for the week of August 10, 2008. Alternative Rock
Alternative rock (also known as alternative music, alt-rock or simply alternative) is a category of rock music that evolved from the independent music underground of the 1970s. Alternative rock acts achieved mainstream success in the 1990s with the likes of the grunge subgenre in the United States, and the Britpop and shoegaze subgenres in the United Kingdom and Ireland. During this period, many record labels were looking for "alternatives", as many Arena rock, corporate rock, hard rock, and glam metal acts from the 1980s were beginning to grow stale throughout the music industry. The emergence of Generation X as a Culture, cultural force in the 1990s also contributed greatly to the rise of alternative music. Brandon Friesen is an American, Grammy Award nominated and multi-Juno Award winning music producer, audio engineer, mixer, and television producer. He was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and spent several years living and working in Canada before relocating permanently to Los Angeles, California. His current companies include record label Blue Cadillac Music with partner Billy Ray Cyrus, Arbor Television, and C12 Records (distributed by EMI Music Canada). ''The Sims 3'' is a 2009 social simulation video game developed by the Redwood Shores studio of Maxis, and published by Electronic Arts. Part of ''The Sims'' series, it is the sequel to ''The Sims 2''. It was released on June 2, 2009, for Microsoft Windows, MacOS, and mobile versions.
