''Floor'' is the debut studio album by American sludge metal band Floor released in 2002 on the No Idea Records label. After recording EPs and demos over an approximate ten-year period in an attempt to capture the doom-pop sound they have become known for, the bands use of providing the biggest possible sound with minimal guitar work finally paid off. Giving it a positive rating, AllMusic's Gregory Heaney said of the album "...though the riffs here feel, at times, Sunn O)))-like, the thunderous drums help the whole package feel propulsive rather than ponderous." Floor is an American doom/ sludge metal band from Miami, Florida, U.S. that was formed in 1992 by Steve Brooks, Anthony Vialon and Betty Monteavaro with Brooks and Vialon being the only constant members. The band has released three full length studio albums to date: '' Floor'', ''Dove'' and '' Oblation'' and one EP: ''Madonna''. History ''Floor'' and ''Dove'' (1992 – 2013) Initially from Miami, Floor was formed in 1992 by guitarist Steve Brooks, bassist and guitarist Anthony Vialon and drummer George Rios. Betty Monteavaro replaced Rios on drums in 1993 after the first song was written; Rios went on to play in Brethren, Crestfallen and Bird of Ill Omen (with ex-members of Morning Again and Shai Hulud). Jeff Sousa became the drummer in late 1993, when the band had two songs fully written, and Brooks and Vialon changed their sound by implementing two uniquely low-tuned guitars, forgoing the need of a bassist. The songs on the album were recorded in 1994, before the release of their debut album, '' Floor'' in 2002 and were only released ten years later after the positive response the band received to their debut album. As with other Floor compositions the album was recorded without a bass guitar and makes extensive use of heavily down tuned guitars. The album was well received.
