Flip (album)
''Flip'' is a 1985 solo album from Nils Lofgren. The sound is typical of the style of the mid-'80s, with a heavy emphasis on the snare drum sound, Lofgren's guitar, and plenty of synthesizer. The name of the album reflects his signature trampoline 'flips' performed on stage whilst playing guitar solos. Nils Lofgren
Nils Hilmer Lofgren (born June 21, 1951) is an American rock musician, recording artist, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. Along with his work as a solo artist, he has been a member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band since 1984, a member of Crazy Horse, and founder/frontman of the band Grin. Lofgren was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of the E Street Band in 2014. Biography Early life and career Lofgren was born in Chicago, Illinois, United States, to an Italian mother and a Swedish father. When he was a young child, the family moved to the Washington, D.C., suburb of Bethesda, Maryland. Paul Griffin (musician)
Paul Griffin (August 6, 1937 – June 14, 2000) was an American pianist and session musician who recorded with hundreds of musicians from the 1950s to the 1990s. Career Born in Harlem, New York, he began as the touring pianist in the backing band for King Curtis and eventually worked with Bob Dylan, Steely Dan, Don McLean, the Isley Brothers, Van Morrison, the Shirelles, and Dionne Warwick. He may be best known for his colourful and distinctive playing on the Bob Dylan albums ''Highway 61 Revisited'' and ''Blonde on Blonde'', and also on Steely Dan's '' Aja''. He is extensively featured playing a virtuoso performance of gospel piano on Don McLean's single, " American Pie", and Paul Simon's " Tenderness". Gregory Calbi (born April 3, 1949) is an American mastering engineer at Sterling Sound, New Jersey. Biography Greg Calbi was born on April 3, 1949, in Yonkers, New York, and raised in Bayside, Queens, New York. He graduated in 1966 from Bishop Reilly High School in Fresh Meadows. Calbi earned his bachelor's degree in Mass Communications at Fordham University where he studied with Marshall McLuhan and his staff for 3 of those years. He then earned his master's degree in Political Media Studies (Speech Department) at the University of Massachusetts. During these college years, Calbi drove an NYC cab and sold ladies shoes, and was intent on becoming a documentary filmmaker. Sound on Sound Studios, formerly known as MSR Studios (Manhattan Sound Recordings), is a photography and movie producing company Recording studio, recording facility in Montclair, New Jersey. Its forebear, MSR Studios, was located in Manhattan, just outside Times Square at 168 West 48th Street, between 6th and 7th avenues. Originating from the merger of ''Sound on Sound'' and Right Track Recording, the studio was first known as Legacy Studios. Closure and reopening MSR Studios ceased operations at its Midtown location in June 2016. Noise levels from the construction of a nearby hotel made recording difficult. It reopened its doors to the public in Montclair, New Jersey as ''Sound on Sound Studios'' in 2017. Ed Stasium is an American record producer and audio engineer, who has worked on albums by the Ramones, Talking Heads, Motörhead, the Smithereens and Living Colour. Early life and education Raised in Green Brook Township, New Jersey, and graduated from Dunellen High School. History Stasium began his recording career in 1970 fronting the band Brandywine. He appeared on their sole LP, ''Aged''. Hector Samuel Juan "Tico" Torres (born October 7, 1953) is an American musician, best known as the drummer for the rock band Bon Jovi. In 2018, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Bon Jovi. Childhood Hector Juan Samuel Torres was born on October 7, 1953, in New York City, and brought up in the Colonia section of Woodbridge Township, New Jersey. The harmonica, also known as a French harp or mouth organ, is a free reed wind instrument used worldwide in many musical genres, notably in blues, American folk music, classical music, jazz, country, and rock. The Hammond organ is an electric organ invented by Laurens Hammond and John M. Hanert, first manufactured in 1935. Multiple models have been produced, most of which use sliding #Drawbars, drawbars to vary sounds. Until 1975, sound was created from rotating a metal tonewheel near an electromagnetic pickup, and Power amplifier, amplifying the electric signal into a speaker enclosure, speaker cabinet.
