Flint Spirits
The Flint Spirits were a professional hockey team in Flint, Michigan from 1985 to 1990, and played their home games at the IMA Sports Arena. They were a part of the International Hockey League (1945–2001), International Hockey League and replaced the recently departed Flint Generals (IHL), Flint Generals team. They compiled an overall record of 162–220–28. Prior to the 1990–91 season, the original Fort Wayne Komets were moved to Albany, New York, and a group from Fort Wayne, Indiana, purchased the Spirits and relocated them to Fort Wayne in time to begin the season. Flint, Michigan
Flint is the largest city in Genesee County, Michigan, United States, and its county seat. Located along the Flint River (Michigan), Flint River northwest of Detroit, it is a principal city within the Central Michigan, Mid Michigan region. Ronnie Stern
Ronald Stern (born January 11, 1967) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League for 12 seasons with the Vancouver Canucks, Calgary Flames, and San Jose Sharks. Playing career Stern was born in Sainte-Agathe-des-Monts, Quebec, Canada, and is Jewish. He played for 3 years in the QMJHL with the Longueuil Chevaliers, establishing himself as an enforcer with a scoring touch. His strong play led him to be drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in the 4th round, 70th overall, in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. After being drafted by the Canucks, Stern returned to the Chevaliers for one final year before turning pro for the 1987–88 season. Kevin Miller (ice Hockey)
Kevin Bradley Miller (born September 2, 1965) is an American former professional ice hockey player. Early life Miller was born in Lansing, Michigan. As a youth, he played in the 1978 Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament with the Detroit Little Caesars minor ice hockey team. Career A two-way forward, Miller was drafted by the New York Rangers in 1984. He would also go on to play with the Detroit Red Wings, Washington Capitals, St. Louis Blues, San Jose Sharks, Pittsburgh Penguins, Chicago Blackhawks, New York Islanders and Ottawa Senators. After playing for the Senators during the 1999–2000 NHL season, Miller spent several years in Switzerland before returning to play in North America and would play several games for the Red Wings in 2003–04. Peter Philip Laviolette Jr. (born December 7, 1964) is an American professional ice hockey coach and former player who most recently served as the head coach for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League (NHL). Originally undrafted by teams in the NHL, he played a total of 12 games with the Rangers in the 1988–89 season. Following retirement from active play, Laviolette also served as head coach of the New York Islanders, Carolina Hurricanes, Philadelphia Flyers, Nashville Predators, and Washington Capitals. He led the Hurricanes to a Stanley Cup win in 2006, and later coached the Flyers to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2010, as well as the Predators in 2017. Paul Broten
Paul Newell Broten (born October 27, 1965) is an American former professional hockey player who played in 322 games in the NHL with the New York Rangers, Dallas Stars, and St. Louis Blues. He shoots right-handed and played right wing. Broten was picked by the New York Rangers in the 4th round, 77th overall in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. He then went to the University of Minnesota for 4 years, scoring 45 points in 42 games his senior year. During the 1989–1990 NHL season Broten made his debut with the Rangers. He would play for the Rangers until the 1993–1994 season when he joined the Dallas Stars. He played with the Stars for 2 years before playing one year with the Blues and their minor league affiliate Worcester Ice Cats.
