Flint House (Massachusetts)
The Flint House is a historic First Period house at 28 Lexington Road in Lincoln, Massachusetts. The oldest portions of this house have very early colonial construction, and its main block either is, or contains portions of, a "mansion" built by Ephraim Flint and mentioned in a 1709 deed. This main block appears to have portions of two older structures that were joined; the exact sequence of construction is difficult due to extensive alterations of the building over the 18th and 19th centuries. The property includes a barn which is thought to have been built before 1750, and is unaltered despite having been moved a relatively short distance on the grounds. The house has been occupied by nine generations of Flints, who have been a major force in the civic life of Lincoln. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2003. Lincoln is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 7,014 according to the 2020 United States census, including residents of Hanscom Air Force Base who live within town limits. First Period Architecture
First Period is an American architectural style originating between approximately 1626 and 1725, used primarily by British colonists during the settlement of the British colonies of North America, particularly in Massachusetts and Virginia. Among U.S. counties, Essex County, Massachusetts, has the highest number of preserved First Period buildings. Flints Pond (or Flint's Pond; also known as Sandy Pond) is a body of water in Lincoln, Massachusetts, United States. Named for Flint House, on the land of which it was situated, it is the town's major water supply, with Tower Road Well being the supplemental source. The pond is located around north-northwest of Lincoln's town centre. The DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, built on the former estate of Julian de Cordova, sits on the southern shores of the pond.
