Flensburg-Engelsby Transmitter
The Flensburg-Engelsby transmitting station is an FM radio and digital television transmission facility owned by Norddeutscher Rundfunk and sited near the town of Flensburg in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The following services are radiated from its 215-metre-high guyed grounded lattice steel mast: FM radio Digital terrestrial television History The Flensburg-Engelsby transmitter is the successor of the former Flensburg-Jürgensby transmitter, transmitter situated at in the city part Jürgensby, which went in service in 1928. It used as antenna tower a tall wood tower, in which a fading-reducing half-wave antenna was fixed. It was one of the few functioning transmitters of Germany at the end of World War II. In 1948 this facility transferred to NWDR, the predecessor of today's NDR. 3sat (, ''Dreisat'') is a free-to-air German-language public service television channel. It is a generalist channel with a cultural focus and is jointly operated by public broadcasters from Germany ( ZDF, ARD), Austria ( ORF) and Switzerland ( SRG SSR). The coordinating broadcaster is ZDF, at whose Mainz facility the broadcasting centre with studios for in-house productions is located. History 3sat was established to broadcast cultural programmes, originally by satellite. The network was founded as a cooperative network by Germany's ZDF, Austria's ORF, and Switzerland's SRG SSR (formerly SRG SSR idée suisse). 3sat began broadcasting on 1 December 1984, with its first programme being simulcasted on FS2, TV DRS and ZDF. Tagesschau24 (, "Review of the Day 24," stylized as tagesschau24) is a German free-to-air television channel owned by ARD and managed by Norddeutscher Rundfunk. Launched on 30 August 1997 as "EinsExtra", the channel was renamed ''Tagesschau 24'' on 1 May 2012. It is ARD's news channel and competes with Welt and n-tv. Besides news, Tagesschau24 also broadcasts culture, sports and science shows. A HD simulcast of the channel was launched on 5 December 2013. WDR Fernsehen is a German free-to-air television network owned and operated by Westdeutscher Rundfunk and serving North Rhine-Westphalia. NDR Fernsehen is a German free-to-air regional television channel targeting northern Germany, specifically the states of Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Hamburg and Bremen. It is broadcast by both Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR) and Radio Bremen, although the former provides most of the output as they are bigger than the latter. It is one of seven regional "third programmes" offered by the ARD members. History It started broadcasting on 4 January 1965 as the common channel of NDR, Radio Bremen and Sender Freies Berlin (SFB). It eventually adopted the name "Nord 3", later "N3". ZDFneo is a German free-to-air television channel, programmed for an audience aged 25 to 49 to complement the primarily older-skewing main channels of public broadcasters ZDF and ARD. It replaced ZDF's documentary channel ZDFdokukanal on 1 November 2009. History On 1 October 2017, the channel was to receive a new on-air design and a new broadcasting logo; this was brought forward to 26 September 2017. Distribution ZDFneo is broadcast (along with the rest of ZDFvision) via DVB-T digital terrestrial television, receivable in most areas of Germany.
