Fleet Services
Fleet Services is a motorway service station on the M3 near Fleet. It is owned by Welcome Break. History Opened in 1973, it was originally built in a Scandinavian style and in 1992 won Loo of the Year Award. Before 2001, when Winchester services opened, it was the only service station on the M3. In 2006, it was one of the first service stations to carry the new corporate identity for Welcome Break, and along with it came a new Burger King franchise, which then made Fleet Services one of the few motorway service stations to have a Burger King, a KFC and a McDonald's co-exist at the same service station. The McDonald's was part of a 1995 Welcome Break campaign to roll out franchises throughout its chain, but when Welcome Break's parent company was taken over by Granada, the latter's rival franchise of Burger King was instead introduced throughout the chain, but Fleet services (and Woodall), part of the original plan, continued to carry McDonald's despite this. M3 Motorway (Great Britain)
The M3 is a motorway in England, from Sunbury-on-Thames, Surrey, to Eastleigh, Hampshire; a distance of approximately . The route includes the Aldershot Urban Area, Basingstoke, Winchester, and Southampton. It was constructed as a dual three-lane motorway except for its two-lane section between junction 8 ( A303) and junction 9. The motorway was opened in phases, ranging from Lightwater/Bagshot to Popham in 1971 to Winchester to Otterbourne Hill in 1995. The latter stages attracted opposition from environmental campaigns across Britain due to its large cutting through wooded Twyford Down; numerous road protests were held which delayed its opening. Similar protests were avoided on the near-parallel A3 by the construction of the Hindhead Tunnel. Woodall Services
Woodall services is a motorway service station on the M1 motorway in Rotherham close to Sheffield in England. It lies between junctions 30 and 31. It was opened in 1968 by Trust House Forte but was renamed Welcome Break after the takeover of the company. It takes its name from the nearby village of Woodall. Facilities Woodall was also one of the few service stations to have a Burger King, KFC and a McDonald's. The Northbound side had a McDonald's (open 24 hours), which closed in March 2020, and has a KFC, with the Southbound side having a Burger King and a KFC. Both sides of the service station are linked by footbridge. The services are very close to the Derbyshire border but it actually lies in the Metropolitan Borough of Rotherham. A welcome is a kind of greeting designed to introduce a person to a new place or situation, and to make them feel at ease. BBC Radio 1 is a British national radio station owned and operated by the BBC. It specialises in modern popular music and current chart hits throughout the day. Christopher Francis Stark (born 12 March 1987) is a British radio personality known for his work most recently as a co-host on the ''Scott Mills'' show on BBC Radio 1 until he departed in 2022. He currently works on Capital FM's Breakfast Show as co-presenter and executive producer. Broadcasting career Early career Stark was born in Watford and raised in Pinner, north-west London. Stark started working at Radio Northwick Park, a hospital radio station, at the age of 16 and gained experience working at stations including Galaxy, Real Radio, Virgin Radio and BBC 6 Music. ''Scott Mills'' was a British award-winning radio show broadcast on BBC Radio 1 from 2004 to 2022. It was hosted by Scott Mills, with contributions from Chris Stark. Other contributors have included Mark Chapman, Laura Sayers, and Beccy Huxtable, the last of whom left the show in 2013. History Scott Mills joined Radio 1 on 12 October 1998, hosting the early breakfast show between 4–6:30am. Scott Robert Mills (born 28 March 1973) is an English radio DJ, television presenter and occasional actor. He is best known for presenting the '' Scott Mills'' show on BBC Radio 1 from 2004 to 2022 and since then, on BBC Radio 2.
