Rhyl Flats
Rhyl Flats Offshore Wind Farm is a 25 turbine wind farm approximately 8 km north east of Llandudno in North Wales. It is Wales' second offshore wind farm and the third offshore wind farm to be built within Liverpool Bay. It has a maximum rated output of 90 MW. Construction The Rhyl Flats project was initially developed by Celtic Offshore Wind Limited (COWL) as part of the UK's Round 1 offshore wind farm programme. COWL received consent for the project in 2002, and in December 2002 the project was purchased by Npower Renewables (formerly National Wind Power and now a part of Innogy, a subsidiary of the German firm RWE), who were also developing the neighbouring North Hoyle and Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farms. Kentish Flats Offshore Wind Farm
The Kentish Flats Offshore Wind Farm is a wind farm located off the coast of Kent, England on a large, flat and shallow plateau just outside the main Thames shipping lanes. The wind farm is operated by Vattenfall. Location The distance from the nearest wind turbine to Whitstable is . The nearest turbine is away from Herne Bay. Installation Construction was completed in August 2005, with commissioning and testing of all turbines completed by September 2005. The wind farm consists of 30 Vestas V90-3MW wind turbines with a total nameplate capacity of 90 MW. Turbines were installed by the Danish offshore wind farms services provider A2SEA. Flats (band)
Flats are a four-piece punk/sludge metal band from East London (with roots in both Palestine and South Wales also). They have their own imprint, Sweat Shop Records, with their last record released in conjunction with Derrick Birkett's One Little Indian Records (who played in Flux of Pink Indians – an influence on the band's early sound). They enjoyed a fast rise to the spotlight being called 'the most important band since the Sex Pistols' by one journalist. In 2012, the band went on hiatus due to their lead singer Daniel Devine (estranged son of a Creation Records founder/The Libertines manager Alan McGee) serving a sentence at Pentonville Prison, London. Background Flats formed in February 2010, and are made up of Craig E. Pierce (bass/vocals), Daniel Devine (vocals), Paul Angeles (guitar) and Samir Eskanda (drums). Mudflats or mud flats, also known as tidal flats or, in Ireland, slob or slobs, are coastal wetlands that form in intertidal areas where sediments have been deposited by tides or rivers. Flat (music)
In music, flat means lower in pitch. It may either be used in a general sense to mean any lowering of pitch, or to specifically refer to lowering pitch by a semitone. A flat is the opposite of a sharp () which indicates a raised pitch in the same way. The flat symbol () appears in key signatures to indicate which notes are flat throughout a section of music, and also in front of individual notes as an accidental, indicating that the note is flat until the next bar line. Pitch change The symbol is a stylised lowercase ''b'', derived from Italian ''be molle'' for "soft B" and German ''blatt'' for "planar, dull". Racing Flat
Racing flats, or simply flats, are lightweight athletic shoes designed for "long distance" track and field, cross country, and most often, road races. They differ from normal training shoes mainly by the lack of a substantial heel to toe drop. Flats weigh less than regular running sneakers. In 2014 some racing flats weighed as little as as companies competed to generate the lightest racing flat. Construction Racing flats have only small or no heel lift, and little padding or support.
