Flashy Python was a project by Alec Ounsworth of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. It also featured band members from Dr. Dog, The Walkmen, and Man Man. Their debut album, '' Skin and Bones'', was self-released in 2009. History Skin and Bones was released on August 11, 2009, to absolutely no pre-release press. It spontaneously showed up on the Flashy Python official website available for streaming of the entire album and also purchasing details for those who wanted to download the album in high-quality mp3, or buy a physical copy on CD or Vinyl. Indie rock is a Music subgenre, subgenre of rock music that originated in the United Kingdom, United States and New Zealand in the early to mid-1980s. Although the term was originally used to describe rock music released through independent record labels, by the 1990s it became more widely associated with the music such bands produced. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah is an indie rock band active since the early 2000s in and out of Philadelphia. The band was founded as a collaboration between singer-songwriter Alec Ounsworth, Sean Greenhalgh, Robbie Guertin, Lee Sargent, and Tyler Sargent. Ounsworth now performs under the name, as a solo artist. Clap Your Hands Say Yeah has released a total of six albums. Their self-titled debut album appeared in 2005 and their most recent, '' New Fragility'', in 2021. History Early work Ounsworth first started writing songs during high school, and by 2003 was playing small gigs and pursuing various opportunities to get his music heard. Working in his basement studio in Philadelphia, he would test new material on acoustic guitar at a weekly, two-song slot at a drag performance at local venue L'Etage. The Walkmen is an American Rock music, rock band formed in New York City in 2000. The band consists of Hamilton Leithauser (vocals), Paul Maroon (guitar, keyboards), Walter Martin (musician), Walter Martin (bass, organ), Peter Matthew Bauer (organ, bass) and Matt Barrick (drums) - all former members of Jonathan Fire*Eater and the Recoys. Man Man is an American experimental rock band from Philadelphia currently based in Los Angeles. Lead singer, songwriter, and lyricist Honus Honus (Ryan Kattner) is accompanied by a group of multi-instrumentalist musicians and vocalists. History Man Man released their debut, '' The Man in a Blue Turban with a Face'', in October 2004 on Ace Fu Records, but did not begin to tour extensively until the 2006 release of their second album, '' Six Demon Bag''. In 2007, the band opened for Modest Mouse on several U.S. tours, gaining them further public attention. Alec Ounsworth
Alec Ounsworth (born December 1, 1977) is an American singer, songwriter, guitarist and frontman of indie rock band Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. He is also a member of The Pelican Picnic and Flashy Python. His first solo album, '' Mo Beauty'' was released October 20, 2009, on Anti- Records. History Ounsworth was born in Pennsylvania and grew up in Mount Airy, Philadelphia. Around his mid-teens, he started writing and recording music — a hobby that would stay near to him throughout his time as a student at Connecticut College. In college, he shared a dorm room with Lee Sargent during their first year. They would both graduate in 2000. Sargent, who had a special interest in Ounsworth's songs, contacted him in 2004 via Friendster about starting a band.
