Flakstad is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Nordland Counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is part of the Districts of Norway, traditional district of the island group Lofoten. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Ramberg, Flakstad, Ramberg. Other villages in the municipality include Fredvang, Napp, Norway, Napp, Nusfjord, Sund, Flakstad, Sund, and Vareid. The municipality is located in the Lofoten Islands and comprises the entire island of Flakstadøya and the northern part of the island of Moskenesøya, plus many smaller islets surrounding the main islands. Flakstad Church
Flakstad Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Flakstad Municipality in Nordland county, Norway. It is located in the village of Flakstad. It is the church for the Flakstad parish which is part of the Lofoten prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Sør-Hålogaland. The red, wooden church was built in a cruciform style in 1780. The church seats about 300 people. It is the millennium site for Flakstad Municipality. The long, low church building is a cog-jointed construction using timbers clad externally with red-painted wooden paneling, as was usual at the end of the eighteenth century. The small-paned windows have white frames. The roof is covered with tiles and a ridge turret with an onion dome and spire crowns the intersection of the cross arms. History Flakstad Church was first mentioned in existing written sources in 1430, but it was likely built before that time. Flakstadøya
Flakstadøya is an island in the Lofoten archipelago in Nordland county, Norway. The entire island lies within Flakstad Municipality with the Vestfjorden on the east side of the island and the Norwegian Sea on the west side of the island. Geography The island is connected to the neighboring island of Moskenesøya (to the south and west) by the Kåkern Bridge and Fredvang Bridges. Nils Erik Flakstad (sculptor)
Nils Erik Flakstad (born 9 August 1907 in Hamar, died on 31 July 1979 in Oslo) was a Norwegian sculptor, son of businessperson and politician Nils Erik Flakstad. He studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry from 1928 to 1930, and at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts from 1930 to 1932. He was a teacher at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry 1955–1975. He started as a painter and first began in the late 1930s with sculpture. Nils Erik Flakstad (23 March 1876 – 9 December 1939) was a Norwegian businessperson and politician for the Conservative Party. He was born in Åmot Municipality as the son of a businessman. His maternal grandfather was Nils Jønsberg. He finished his secondary education in Hamar in 1894, enrolled in law studies and graduated as cand.jur. in 1899. He worked in Moss for two years before being hired as an attorney in Hamar in 1901. He was then CEO of the local savings bank from 1911 to 1931, and CEO of the local brewery from 1921 to 1937. Sunniva Flakstad Ihle (born 20 November 1983) is a Norwegian politician for the Conservative Party. Hailing from Øyer, she graduated from the University of Oslo with a bachelor's degree in European studies and an ESST master's degree (Science, Society and Technology in Europe). She was elected to the Oppland county council in 2003 and elected to both the Øyer municipal council and the Oppland county council in 2007. She also chaired Oppland Young Conservatives. Nationwide, Ihle became deputy leader of the Young Conservatives, the youth wing of the Conservative Party in 2006. From 2007 she served as secretary-general.
