The Fitzgerald Bridge is a prestressed concrete bridge that carries Seaham Road across the Williams River from Raymond Terrace to Nelsons Plains in New South Wales, Australia. Williams River (New South Wales)
The Williams River is a perennial stream that is a tributary of the Hunter River, in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia. Course and features The Williams River rises on the southern slopes of the Barrington Tops below Careys Peak within Barrington Tops National Park, and flows generally southeast and south, joined by ten tributaries including Chichester River, before reaching its confluence with the Hunter River at Raymond Terrace. The river descends over its course; through Dungog, Clarence Town and Seaham. At Clarence Town, the Williams River is crossed by the Clarence Town bridge that carries Limeburners Creek Road; and in Dungog, the river is crossed by the Cooreei Bridge that carries Stroud Hill Road. Both bridges are listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register. Raymond Terrace
Raymond Terrace is a town in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia, about by road north of Newcastle on the Pacific Highway. Established in 1837 it is situated at the confluence of the Hunter and Williams rivers. The town was named after Lieutenant Raymond, who had explored the Hunter River in 1797 and described the terraced appearance of trees in the area. Governor Lachlan Macquarie camped in the area in 1818, using "Raymond Terrace" as the name for the place where his party had camped. At the Raymond Terrace had a population of 13,453. It is the administrative centre of the Port Stephens local government area as well as a service hub for surrounding rural areas. Geography Raymond Terrace is situated to the east of the Hunter and Williams rivers and consists of three distinct regions. Ray Fitzgerald (politician)
Raymond Leo Fitzgerald (27 July 1879 – 18 December 1963) was an Australian politician. He was a member of the New South Wales Legislative Assembly from 1941 until 1962 and served as an independent member until 1950 and then as a member of the Country Party. Fitzgerald was born in Dungog, New South Wales. He was the son of a dairy farmer and was educated to elementary level at Dungog Public School. He initially worked on his father's farm but eventually owned substantial dairy farms in the Hunter Region. He was an official with local dairy farmers' organizations and was a councillor on Dungog Shire council from 1901 to 1942. He was the mayor on several occasions. After one unsuccessful attempt, Fitzgerald was elected to the New South Wales Parliament at the 1941 as the Independent member for Gloucester.
