Background Formation and ''Aggroculture'' (2016–2017) Collins and Carkeet originally first met at a music festival in upstate New York in 2012. The band itself was formed in late 2016. In March 2017 Carkeet announced that he would be leaving Awolnation to spend more time with Fitness. In late 2016 and early 2017, Fitness released two stand-alone singles: "Get Dead" and "Supafeeler (Vice Grip)." The next single the band released was "Feel The Weight," on April 14, 2017. Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. Awolnation (stylized in all caps) is an American rock band from Los Angeles, formed and fronted by Aaron Bruno, formerly of Under the Influence of Giants, Home Town Hero, and Insurgence. The band is signed to Better Noise Music, formerly being signed to Red Bull Records, and their first EP, '' Back from Earth'', was released on iTunes on May 18, 2010. They released their first studio album, '' Megalithic Symphony'', on March 15, 2011; it featured their most notable hit, "Sail", which peaked at number 17 on the '' Billboard'' Hot 100, number 4 on the ''Billboard'' Rock Songs chart, and number 5 on the ''Billboard'' Alternative Songs chart. James Maxwell Stuart Collins (born August 28, 1978) is an American musician, singer, and songwriter who is best known as the lead vocalist, primary songwriter, and bassist of the alternative rock band Eve 6 which he co-founded with Jon Siebels. He launched a solo career in 2013 called Marms + The Car Deaths. He has other musical projects including a band called Fitness, and more recently has created a singing Germanic alter-ego called Chevy Mustang. Eve 6 is an American rock band formed in 1995 in Southern California, best known for their hit singles "Inside Out," "Leech," "Here's to the Night," and "Promise." They disbanded in 2004, returned for numerous tours in 2007 with a new lineup, and finally reunited with all three original members in early 2011. They signed to Fearless Records in the spring of that year, and released their fourth album '' Speak in Code,'' containing the singles "Victoria" and "Curtain," in April 2012. Matthew Bair (born June 2, 1987), known professionally as Matthew Koma, is an American singer, songwriter, DJ and record producer. Songs written by Koma include "Spectrum" and Grammy Award-winner "Clarity", both performed by Zedd.
