Fist (UK Band)
Fist are an English heavy metal band founded in South Shields, North East England in 1978. Fist were one of the original bands that were considered to be part of the new wave of British heavy metal movement in the late 1970s and early 1980s. History The band first formed in April 1978 as Axe, but only recorded one song ("S.S. Giro") under that name. The group reformed in late 1979 under the new name of Fist, soon signing with Neat Records and releasing their first single, "Name, Rank and Serial Number" in April 1980. This single did well with heavy radio rotation and good sales. The single was praised in the pages of '' Sounds'', and bigger things were anticipated for the band as they signed with MCA, releasing a second single and preparing a full-length record for the end of the year. South Shields
South Shields () is a coastal town in South Tyneside, Tyne and Wear, England; it is on the south bank of the mouth of the River Tyne. Blitzkrieg are an English heavy metal music, heavy metal band formed in Leicester in 1980. The current line-up consists of Brian Ross (singer), Brian Ross (vocals), Alan Ross (guitar), Liam Ferguson (bass), Matt Graham (drums), and Nick Jennison (guitar). The new wave of British heavy metal (often abbreviated as NWOBHM) was a nationwide musical movement that began in England in the mid-1970s and achieved international attention by the early 1980s. Editor Alan Lewis (music journalist), Alan Lewis coined the term for an article by Geoff Barton in a May 1979 issue of the British music newspaper ''Sounds (magazine), Sounds'' to describe the emergence of heavy metal music, heavy metal bands in the mid-to-late 1970s, as punk rock declined amid the dominance of new wave music.
