Fishing For Luckies
''Fishing for Luckies'' is an album by The Wildhearts that originated as a fan club-only release of newly recorded material, but has since been expanded and re-released with extra tracks. Original release The Wildhearts released the original ''Fishing for Luckies'' in December 1994 as a limited edition CD mini-album, available only via their fan club. The songs were newly recorded and featured the line-up of Ginger on vocals and guitar, C.J. on guitar and vocals, Danny McCormack on bass, and Ritch Battersby on drums. Gordon Mabbett contributed accordion on "Geordie in Wonderland" and Marc Fox played additional percussion on "Do the Channel Bop". The Wildhearts
The Wildhearts are an English Rock music, rock band, formed in 1989 in Newcastle upon Tyne. The band's sound is a mixture of hard rock and melodic pop music, often described in the music press as combining influences as diverse as the Beatles and 1980s-era Metallica. The Wildhearts achieved several top 20 singles and two top 10 albums in Britain, though they also faced difficulties with record companies and many internal problems often relating to drugs and depression. Much of the band's early career was affected by bitter feuds with their record company, East West Records, East West. Throughout the band's history, members have regularly been replaced, with the only constant member being the band's founder, singer and guitarist Ginger (musician), Ginger. Danny McCormack
Danny McCormack (born 28 February 1972) is an English rock musician, best known for several tenures as the bassist and backing vocalist for The Wildhearts. Biography McCormack became the bass player for The Wildhearts at age 19 in 1991, enjoying success during their commercial peak, until the band split in 1997. McCormack went on to form The Yo-Yos with Tom Spencer (formerly of The Lurkers), and the band released an album on Sub Pop Records before splitting in 2000. He re-joined The Wildhearts when they reformed in 2001, but only played with the band sporadically due to drug abuse, and left again in 2003. At the time the group's frontman Ginger Wildheart penned an open letter to ''Kerrang!'' magazine documenting McCormack's drug problems and wished him a complete recovery. Cut-out (recording Industry)
In the recording industry, a cut-out refers to a deeply discounted or remaindered copy of an LP, 45 RPM single, cassette tape, compact disc or other item. This was and still is common in the U.S. and rather unknown in other parts of the world. History When LPs were the primary medium for the commercial distribution of sound recordings, manufacturers would cut the corner, punch a hole, or add a notch to the spine of the jacket of unsold records returned from retailers; these "cut-outs" might then be re-sold to record retailers or other sales outlets for sale at a discounted price. 45 RPM singles records were usually drilled with a hole through the label, or stamped "C.O." Ginger Wildheart
Ginger Wildheart (born David Leslie Walls; 17 December 1964), sometimes known simply as Ginger, is an English rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He began his professional career as a guitarist in the Quireboys, but is best known as the founder and leader of the Wildhearts. In addition, he has released numerous solo albums and has been involved in many other musical projects. Career Early career Ginger played in many bands including South Shields band the Cups and Beki Bondage's band the Bombshells. He was a member of the English band the Quireboys from 1987 until 1989. After being sacked from the Quireboys, he was briefly in the New York band the Throbs, before going on to form the Wildhearts. He has led several incarnations of the Wildhearts since 1989.
