''Fish Tales'' is a 1936 Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' short film directed by Jack King. The short was released on May 23, 1936, and stars Porky Pig. Plot Porky Pig goes fishing, and two worms come out of their hole following Porky to his boat. Porky indicates that he wants the worms to go into the can. The first worm immediately hops into the can, and the second worm who is portrayed as a woman with gloves and high heels, is at first coy, but gets hauled inside. Porky starts the engine, and the boat goes crazy, speeding towards the ocean. The boat is running straight at a battleship, but goes down and up from the ocean under the ship. On the way back, the boat crashes inside the ship filled with Navy sailors and splits the dinner table in half. The boat exits the battle ship, which subsequently sinks. Porky manages to stop the boat, gets out his fishing rod, and after a few unsuccessful attempts starts fishing. Porky catches a fish head trophy and he throws it out. He catches a ... Fish Tales (pinball)
''Fish Tales'' is a fishing-themed pinball game released by Williams in 1992. It is one of the top 20 most produced pinball machines of all time, selling more than 13,000 units. Overview The general goal is to catch as many fish and tell the most outlandish stories about their size possible. The machine's backglass is topped with a plastic fish that thrashes its tail when the player achieves certain goals, and the players launches balls with an autoplunger shaped like a fishing rod. ''Fish Tales'' introduced flippers with lightning bolts on them that were believed to be shorter than other Williams flippers of the time. While seemingly minor, an extra gap creates a far greater ball control challenge for the player. As such, this enhancement was only added to a few pinball titles before being abandoned. Gameplay The player is presented with three main objectives: * Multiball – Shots to the Caster's Club "lock" (hold onto) balls. Three locks starts multiball. * Catching ... The Tale Of The Fisherman And The Fish
The fairy tale commemorated on a Soviet Union stamp ''The Tale of the Fisherman and the Fish'' () is a fairy tale in verse by Alexander Pushkin, published 1835. The tale is about a fisherman who manages to catch a "Golden Fish" which promises to fulfill any wish of his in exchange for its freedom. Textual notes Pushkin wrote the tale in autumn 1833 and it was first published in the literary magazine ''Biblioteka dlya chteniya'' in May 1835. Grimms' Tales Several notable scholars believe that Pushkin's is an original tale based on the Grimms' tale, " The Fisherman and His Wife". Mark Azadovsky wrote monumental articles on Pushkin's sources, his nurse "Arina Rodionovna", and the "Brothers Grimm" demonstrating that tales recited to Pushkin in his youth were often recent translations propagated "word of mouth to a largely unlettered peasantry", rather than tales passed down in Russia, as John Bayley explains. Still, in Bayley's estimation, the derivative nature does not dim ... [...More Info...]       [...Related Items...]     OR:     [Wikipedia]   [Google]   [Baidu]   |

Tall Tale
A tall tale is a story with unbelievable elements, related as if it were true and factual. Some tall tales are exaggerations of actual events, for example fish stories ("the fish that got away") such as, "That fish was so big, why I tell ya', it nearly sank the boat when I pulled it in!" Other tall tales are completely fictional tales set in a familiar setting, such as the European countryside, the American frontier, the Canadian Northwest, the Australian outback, or the beginning of the Industrial Revolution. Events are often told in a way that makes the narrator seem to have been a part of the story; the tone is generally good-natured. Legends are differentiated from tall tales primarily by age; many legends exaggerate the exploits of their heroes, but in tall tales the exaggeration looms large, to the extent of dominating the story. United States The tall tale has become a fundamental element of American folk literature. The tall tale's origins are seen in the bragging c ...
